  1. Will probably sit it out with the veg. lol. Lovely open landscape where they are growing.
  2. Hello all. Well, an interesting day. Very thankful for the rain lately and it looks potentially stormy later. Rain here just now. Feeling claggy with the higher humidity today. Feels warmer - Temp 13C Humidity 96% Dewpoint 12C
  3. Well, a month ago I was asking for it to stop raining. It did. Now we are bone dry and looking for a good soaking. Is it coming? who knows. I know areas further South might have had a drizzle but apart from a lovely rumble of thunder and a sprinkle yesterday, things are turning into a dust bowl where not watered. Plants need a good drop now. Long chitted potatoes are up and well. Onions bolted, cucurbits stunted and holding back for some reason, Tomatoes doing well but there is an awful problem with aphids generally. Blasting with the hose works short term but those ants, they do like to farm and they are everywhere! We want them washed away lol.but we love the Sunshine nonetheless.
  4. And now the little young Brassicas look a bit war torn from the winds. They will be fine though. Its all coming along on the plot. Waiting .. waiting to put Tomatoes into their final place. I think it will be a few weeks yet though. Night time temperatures well below what a Tomato is comfortable with. This morning is dewy. Its quite peaceful. Wind Calm Temp 6C Humidity 90% Dewpoint 5C Rain last 24 hours 0.03 cm Pressure 1012.6 mb
  5. Half past 10 and its 20C already and hardly a breath of wind. Looking to be a scorcher. Off to secure the netting over the newly planted Brassicas... and a few other jobs.
  6. Tops of 24C, now 22C. Lovely low dew points in relation... What a beautiful weekend. Tooooo early for Tomatoes! Be warned.
  7. Indeed. Strawberries took a hit too. Seems the little Apple trees - being just a few feet off the ground, faired okay. Its not the end of the world, its just that the Potatoes looked so bushy and healthy just a day before.
  8. They look lovely. You managed to miss frost damage. My ground planted one's haven't been in that long, so that is a good thing.
  9. A very soggy day following a very windy night. Moderate rain from the onset. Hail shower now. Lentil sized. So, the onions are taking a bashing.
  10. So, we had a frost. I lost my potatoes in buckets. ... took off the blackened leaves. Seeing if they will come back. A good day today, Sunshine .. hefty showers this afternoon, some hail.
  11. For non-gardeners wondering why growers are overloaded with seedlings... its this: To make space, we have to plant out things that get planted out first .. Brassicas etc. Before they get planted out, they first get hardened off - to get the seedlings used to strong sunlight, wind and flux in temps. Fat chance for me at the moment. So, the Brassicas are still in the greenhouse (they will do fine) the Tomatoes and Peppers in the main are indoors grabbing every available space. The squashes, Sunflowers Celery and anything else... in the greenhouse. They might not make it. Not to mention the blossoming Apples. So much lovely blossom - that might not make it. So, few Apples.
  12. I've simply no more room indoors for anything. Most of the tenders are littering my windows but a lot are in the cold greenhouse....
  13. Yes, same here. How nice of it. And those clear skies mean one thing tonight; dead seedlings.
  14. Dry here today, though cloudy and chilly. Took a look at xcweather and the frost is on again for my location tonight! Thats the GFS if I'm not mistaken.
  15. Of course, snow is not unheard of in April - 23rd or 24th we had snow one year. Keeping this for posterity. Seems potty after temps in the 20s last week. Forecast -
  16. Wow Jethro, too much life stuff all at once in the busiest gardening season. You know, you can worry too much. It won't always be a nightmare finding a rental, I'm sure, take one step at a time. If its a shack to begin then so be it, the following month might turn up umpteen things, and so on and so forth. Take the cash and find a travel lodge. Store things within a budget. Just for a few weeks maybe. It will surely help you to downsize your belongings... now, why not do car boot weekends? Time? Yep, I know!!! Weather and frost - It was some rumour, temps dipping close to freezing if not freezing, sometime next week. Keeping an eye. Fleece at hand if necessary.
  17. Hello Jethro, you are missed around here. ..If there is going to be a frost next week, this will be dreadful. Apple in blossom and cherry close behind!
  18. Overcast all day so far with light rain showers. Feeling humid. Temp 14C Dew point 11C.
  19. The only supercell for miles - lights up Poole Bay and you don't go to see ?! I guess I expect everyone to be a chaser.
