not what you might call a consistent update
for east read west today!
Yes John, very odd that... I can presume the error was made yesterday, and corrected today ?

A cool overcast day here with light rain/drizzle, Current Temp 4.8c NN/E 6mph. Rain 5.3mm.

It was just a week ago that the news blew through the scientific world like a storm: researchers from the BICEP2 project at the South Pole Telescope had detected unambiguous evidence of primordial gravitational waves in the cosmic microwave background, the residual rippling of space and time created by the sudden inflation of the Universe less than a billionth of a billionth of a second after the Big Bang. With whispers of Nobel nominations quickly rising in the science news wings, the team’s findings were hailed as the best direct evidence yet of cosmic inflation, possibly even supporting the existence of a multitude of other universes besides our own.
That is, if they really do indicate what they appear to. Some theorists are advising that we “put the champagne back in the fridgeâ€â€¦ at least for now.

Some fantastic charts that continue for Northern blocking over Iceland/Greenland at the turn of the month from all the runs. Very interesting over the coming week to see how this evolves.

Anyone would think they "were" expecting something major or extreme by your post's Trip ?..

Heavy showers with rail/hail/sleet with snow mixed at times temp 3.2c.

Yes BA, the models especially the GFS have handled this cold snap very well indeed and was the first to pick up the signal and maintain it, From a model watches point of view "whatever the outcome".. there is at least something different of interest other than the West based weather pattern we have been stuck in all Winter.
Yes a warm Spring would be nice, but looking at the signals we may have to wait until Summer !

amazingly, yet again Gfs is the best model out there in the 10 day plus range!
Yes BA, good to see you back posting now something of interest is showing in the charts, I thought you had given up..

A very cold night coming up, colder than what most have endured all Winter, Showers of sleet/hail so far today.
Current temp 3.8c, Wind Chill 0.6c, Dp 2.2c.

Certainly has Karl, especially since the models upgrade last year, although the GFS always seems to handle these set ups better what with such a Westerly bias.

GFS, ECMWF, and UKMET all showing strong signals for blocking taking place towards the end of the month now, very interesting model watching over the next week to see if the signal evolves. GFS has done very well picking this trend up first a few days ago..

A wintry mix here of sleet and snow mixed in the heavy bursts.

Temperatures are a lot higher at 10 mb at the moment compared to this time last year.
I wonder what April has in store this year?
Yes Cloud, GFS is showing some strong blocking taking place as we enter April..

GFS is showing a weak ridge of High Pressure next week.
While ECMWF and UKMET keeps an Easterly flow a little longer, both show High Pressure of sorts towards the end of the runs.
GFS is still maintaining a classic cool/cold and disturbed start to April. With blocking plentiful, its just a shame it's a Month late, bloody typical...!

After years of searching, planetary scientists think they may finally have spotted waves rippling on the seas of Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. If confirmed, this would be the first discovery of ocean waves beyond Earth. http://www.nature.com/news/first-hints-of-waves-on-titan-s-seas-1.14889?utm_content=buffer14497&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Some great links there Knock, clear and easy to understand to.

Feels rather warm in the sun today with mostly clear sky's and light winds, very pleasant for working outside in fact its perfect in my book.

Obsessing over climate change is distracting politicians from dealing with floods and storms, experts warned yesterday..
The Prime Minister said man-made climate change was ‘one of the most serious threats’ the country faced and that he ‘very much suspected’ it caused the floods in Somerset and along the Thames Valley.

Yes, I expect lot's of flip/flopping over the coming days from the models as expected when blocking/pattern change is shown in the outputs, Whatever the outcome.. i can only presume we will see many wild swings.
