  1. I don't waken easily but that was a serious bang of thunder this morning! Thought the house was coming in on top of me. Lol. With regards to snow i reckon we have more chance towards months end. Could be some sleetyness over Xmas but nothing major. I think we could do quite well into the new year with PM incursions.
  2. well sure maybe a glimmer of hope on the horizon! This would be a great start to 2016! Probably no chance of happening but!
  3. Straw clutching and right at the end of the run. We can only dream. Lol
  4. Yeah I reckon January is gonna be a better time to check in! Lol
  5. Every day i have a nosey in the model thread hoping for some changes in the outputs but with each day they churn out something different and not what i want to be seeing! The 12z GFS today now showing temps in the teens!! Definitely not what we want to be seeing at this time of year!! There is no consistency or trends in the outputs at all!! Just boring! Lol.
  6. Biting cold out today! Definitely feels cold enough for snow!
  7. FI yes but nice to see and a continuing trend in the GFS output. Definitely think we will see something colder in the run up to Xmas and maybe even a major cold spell as we head in to the new year!
  8. Bit of sleet now in Derry and i can see a dusting towards Donegal.
  9. I don't think anyone will be seeing snow today. Either very marginal or the METO messed up. Lol
  10. Nothing really to talk about here. Few hail showers blowing through. Most of the showers are to the East and moving south. Good to see the old faces back and cheers Ed for the new thread.
  11. Radar looking good to the north for showers. Anything falling in the next couple of hours should be of snow.
  12. First snow of the season falling in Derry!! Temp down to 2.5!
  13. Really liking the look of things for this coming weekend. Lovely chart below from this mornings 06z with disturbances in the flow and -8 uppers in place. Doubt we will get anything substantial but for November this is great. Hopefully more upgrades in the coming days.
  14. Definitely a chill in the air today. Noticed a dusting of snow on the Sperrins earlier. Great to see!
  15. Well that was an interesting day of weather!! Rain and hail along with some really serious gusty winds! Nice to see something of interest showing on the charts for our first cold shot of the season. Before that though we look to be in for another big wind event come Sunday. Interesting times ahead.
  16. Understandably very quiet in here. Boring weather at the minute and nothing notable showing on the charts yet. To me this is a good thing as seeing good charts this early is pointless. I just have a feeling that once we head towards the end of November there will big switch in things. I always speculate about winter but have a good feeling about this one!
  17. Can't help but focus on the cold pool in the Atlantic. Maybe due to all the media attention. I definitely feel that we will have at least one major cold spell this winter. Initially from the N\NW then a major cold spell from the E\NE into the second half if Winter. In the mean time Autumn so far has been brilliant. Cold and chrisp. One thing I have noticed it most trees are still in full leaf and colour due to the lack of storms and wind. A wee bit of a change later this week then a ridge of high pressure building again from the South. High pressure being a big focal point lately. Maybe something that will be common this winter and hopefully in the right places.
  18. Super day today and nice to see. The Eclipse this morning was amazing to see. Here's one of my photos i took.
  19. Its Sunday night into Monday buddy. Hoping for it to be clear as heading out to photograph it. http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/lunar/2015-september-28
  20. Well folks we are well in to September now and the upcoming Autumn/Winter season is under way. Things looking pretty promising with regards to sea temperatures etc. Will be see a harsh winter or will we see the normal Atlantic train. Gut feeling telling me that we could be in for a colder than average winter but then again my gut tells me every September that we are going to get a cold winter. Lol. Anyway as always time will tell and am sure there will be many ups and downs plus copious amounts of Prozak and i also patiently await to see what our friend Frosty will reincarnate himself as this year.
  21. And the papers are at it already. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/uk-weather-britain-hit-polar-6362270
