  1. Yeah I think a trip down the a1 will be our best bet on Sunday, but yes of course Jarra Snow would be better I can't help but feel mighty deprived when anyone else gets snow!
  2. I totally agree, I think at age 6 hearing that bell go for the Christmas holidays is a fab present, jammy sod Might stick the sledges in the car and have a drive about over the weekend and see if we come across anywhere with enough snow to go hurtling down some hills. Not sure my pregnant self will fit in a slegde this year though....lol
  3. It's my sons birthday tomorrow, and he loves snow, so if we got any tomorrow it would make his day. I think even to see some falling would bring a big smile. The kids all break up from school too so it would make it extra special. I won't hold my breath but can't help but get a bit excited at the mere 1% chance that we seem to have
  4. We had a lovely full sky around half an hour ago, I had everything crossed but it was just a rainy/sleety/wet mixture. dew point of just under 0c and wind gusting upto 35mph. Feels soo much colder than it actually is aswell, im thinking i might just leave the kids at school rather than go out in it to pick them up, they have to go back in the morning anyway........ :winky:
  5. I have to say regarding snow, although I would love it to lie, just seeing some flakes would do it for me even if, as they probably will, melt as soon as they hit the ground!
  6. Pressure here in the north east has dropped almost 30mb since this morning, and is now at 978. Just thought I would share that as everybody else seems to be No wind here really, currently gusting to 18mph. Temp currently reading 5.3c but it feels way colder with a horrible drizzle. Feel free to keep the wind in the south guys!
  7. Just had to quickly reply to this while doing the tea, my local paper know I am a total weather geek and I have been in a few times spouting off about the weather, and the last time they rang me was to ask what winter had in store, specifically would we have snow etc, and despite me explaining how hard it was to pinpoint snow so far in advance they were really pushing me to give an armageddon forecast. I think all media have the same point of view, hype it up, tell us were all going to die etc, then when it doesnt quite happen that way blame the met etc. Apologies for being completely off topic, but it always makes me chuckle when I see the papers, especially the DM giving it large with the scary headlines
  8. I was just coming on to do a similar post, I am upgrading my station and not sure what to get! The one I have atm can't hook up to the laptop which I really want so I can get a website sorted. I am looking at about £150 budget and would prefer wireless hook up to the pc. Would the W8681 be the best to get?
  9. Current temp 11.4c dew point 11.3c humidity 99% SLP steady 1003mb E wind 4.6mph gusting to 6.7 mph Rain 0.2mm, with more to come
  10. Sorry, the link for the story should be in my post, the kitten keeps sitting on the keyboard when I am on the laptop and I hadnt realised some of my post had been deleted! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2047245/UK-weather-First-frost-temperatures-3C-weekend.html I had said if you scroll through the story it says 3c by Saturday in the north, no mention of -3 anywhere other than in the headline. My birthday is this month, and although my memory is terrible I can't think of a time when its been freezing for my birthday, so yes I would say -3 would be a bit unusual for this time of year. It's just the way the the DM have reported it you would think we are in for the end of the world winter wise this year.
  11. It's going to be -3 by the weekend according to the Daily Mail. Im sure i don't remember the weather being reported as much in the media a few years ago as it is these days. Or maybe I just didn't take as much notice as I do now?
  12. Scary thing is how many people do believe the stories in the papers, after the DM printed the -20 story the amount of people I know who shared it on Fb and Twitter is unreal. When i suggested this "may" not happen I was told there must be truth to it if it's been printed in the papers......!!
  13. The 18th October is my 30th so I would be very happy for it to snow (a lot) making sure people can't visit me and "celebrate" the day, so therefore I can pretend the day didn't happen and can stay 29!!!!
  14. Mine is on now as it felt really cold when i got up. We moved over the summer and the new house has double glazing, which is making a huge difference for us, in the old house the heating would have well been on before now.
  15. It feels colder than it is here, very blustery day, changing from lovely sunshine one moment to overcast and dull the next. Currently 14.6, with a dew point of 5.2. Overnight low of 8.1c which is the coldest it's been in i don't know how long
  16. I for one don't really care when we get snow, aslong as we get some! I would dearly love a repeat of last years snowfall, its crazy when you think its almost 1 year since it started, its flew over
  17. A much nicer start to the day today than yesterday, Saturday was spent at the beach so it was a bit of a shock to the system to wake up to rain yesterday! Anyway: Temp 17.8c Dew Point 15,2c Humidity 86% Pressure 1005mb Wind E 5.4mph, gust 9.4mph Forecast - rain
  18. Some fab photos there Dave, although you are much braver than me! Since our house got struck when I was about 13 I have been rather terrified of thunder and lightning, and can be found cowering in the house rather than getting the camera out Last storm I was in was on the way to the lakes in August, I can't remember the last one we experienced at home
  19. Wind isnt more than 40mph here tonight, but as we have already lost some roof tiles ive got my fingers crossed we don't lose anymore that may have been loosened yesterday
  20. My friend in Bishop Aukland has just told me a tree has crashed through the roof of her house!
  21. wind upto 50mph now here. everyone has the bins out as its collection day, i can see a few of them going walkies once they have been emptied if they are left in the street
  22. Are we still expected to get the worst of it from tea time today?
  23. Morning all, very blowy here this morning. Pressure has dropped to 986mb and we have had gusts of 39mph. I hadn't actually noticed how surrounded by trees our new house is until I heard a load of crab apples dropping off some of them this morning. First bad weather we have had since we moved so fingers crossed the trees all stay where they should!
  24. Haha that really made me laugh! My husband thinks im a lunatic sat here laughing at the laptop
  25. There was an article in the Sunday Sun about me today to do with the weather station etc, but I don't think anybody else is interested in the weather up here, unless its going to effect the football lol, so it's good to see other north easterners on here, there are quite a few of us about aren't there Typically a woman driver aswell........haha
