  1. ex katia would certainly need a new satnav if that was the case
  2. Andy I am also in Jarrow, I set up my weather station this week so will hopefully get some accurate wind speeds from it. (If you have your own then ignore me )
  3. Haven't Pakistan just experienced more serious flooding in the past week? i wonder if it is in the same areas that were affected last time?
  4. Haha that's fab, I love the Daily Mail, some of the articles make me lol they are sooo bad. And the reader comments are hilarious. How they get away with so many spelling mistakes is beyond me, surely they have spell check??
  5. I was reading some articles about Lee a few days ago and it ended up spawning over 20 tornadoes over several states. Some of the photographs were awful, complete destruction in some places. Truly amazing what some swirly wind can do in such a short space of time isn't it.
  6. Ah the snow threads were fantastic, everybody was so excited and carried away by it I so hope we get similar this winter
  7. Thank you, I am very new to weather stations, and Ive only had it out of the box a week and the instructions were quite frankly crap lol, so I was a bit confused when the pressure started to rise as i had expected it to fall. Hoping not to be chasing the equipment around the garden tomorrow!
  8. Pressure on my station is going up, forgive my ignorance but is that usual before a storm hits?
  9. Haha I see, once again I'm blaming pregnancy brain....
  10. I am completely blaming my pregnancy brain but for a moment I was seriously wondering why you needed a chainsaw. Michael Myers flashed through my mind before I realised it was for any trees that go
  11. BBC weather north east tweeted me this morning saying anywhere north of durham could see gusts of upto 80mph during rush hour tomorrow night
  12. We moved house over the summer and the back garden is in desperate need of re-fencing as what is left of the fence has all fell over, and in most places there isnt a fence at all, so I think today will be spent trying to move the garden furniture and kids toys into the most sheltered place incase they start blowing about. Glad I havent got the trampoline up yet......In our old place the back garden backed onto complete open land so I'm interested to see what difference it makes being slightly more sheltered now. We have only moved 5 minutes away so should get the same wind speeds as where we were before I think. Slightly rambling post there, sorry!
  13. I totally agree with that, having recently set up my station I was amazed at the wind readings at the beginning of the week, what felt like really strong winds to me were in fact no higer than 20mph!!
  14. Yeah they are coming to take a photo on Wednesday. I just hope they do it from a good point of view, and not a "married, pregnant mum of 4 finds time to obsess over the weather"....! You never know it might get more people to take an interest in the weather. I only wanted some more followers to bore lol
  15. Sorry to keep going on about this!!! I just wanted to share that the evening chronicle (local newcastle paper) have seen what i am doing on twitter and want to run a story on it. Feel a bit silly as I am completely new to it, hope it turns out ok Liz
  16. Hi all, well its semi set up!! I have it attached to my washing pole for now until i can get it up on the roof, so should hopefully have accurate readings for everything apart from wind speed. I am doing updates on twitter at the moment, if anybody is interested feel free to follow me, username is @jarrowforecast
  17. I had thought of some kind of pole, but after reading your reply and seeing that you had wrote tv aerial fitters it gave me an idea, never thought of asking them if they would mount it on the chimney for me! Ive just rang some local fitters and they have said they would mount it on the chimney on a pole for me ive had the station since last christmas but as i knew we were moving house this summer i didnt want it put up at the old house. I cant wait to get it all set up now, im hoping to get some sort of little website set up for it. thanks for the replies
  18. Thank you, I knew I had seen a forum with weather stations mentioned but I couldnt find it!
  19. I apologise if this is in the wrong place, if so please point me in the right direction. I basically just want to know where is the best place to put my weather station? The only place i can think to get a true wind reading etc is on the chimney but I think there is more chance of Santa coming down it than someone actually climbing up there for me. Where do you all have yours? thanks Liz
  20. 2 flashes of lightning quickly followed by thunder at approx 11.14pm here in hebburn, south tyneside tonight
