  1. Well.. Days like these you can almost smell the BBQs coming.. Feels lovely in the sun!!!
  2. That is some serious drainage problems there! Someone needs to raise those beds!!! Gravel down then top soil/ compost.. Alternatively we have dug trenches here in the chicken runs to remove the water as it was getting so water logged and worked really well.. Its the dam clay round here that is the issue then you go down about 1ft and it turns to gravel/clay that sticks like S to everything! I don't think pineapples will grow here big enough in our summers to eat surely? They must have to be started and moved indoors.. I thought it also took over a year for them to mature into fruit?
  3. Very mild again this morning at 9.1c some heavy rain to move through this morning clearing later to sunny spells.. Looks fairly wet the rest of the week with various bands of rain moving through.. River levels have managed to get right down and ground water has gone down here quite a bit. I don't think we will see the flooding we did in Jan/start of Feb but does need closely watching depending on how much rain we get over the next few weeks
  4. Morning all, 12.6c yesterday here.. INCREDIBLE! And in the sun felt amazing!!! While the cold spell was cold and very cold at times including lots of snow in places, it won't go down in history books for my location. Ive experienced much colder and prolonged cold spells here. Winter as a whole here has been "average" with what you would typically expect in a UK winter. Really enjoyed the warmth yesterday in the Sun. Beats -1 and -6 Windchill for sure! Beginning to slowly think about growing season this year.. Plenty to do and plant.. get seeds germinating start of March etc..
  5. What a difference a day makes! DP yesterday when I woke up -7.5 and temp -3 This morning DP 6.5c Temp 7.2c While the cold was great it was getting a bit tiresome here now running a garden centre. All our soil was frozen, the gravel we send out frozen...At least the rock salt did well!!
  6. Chillis I do once the last frost is gone.. Although you could start them in a greenhouse and if we do get a rouge frost run a heater in there. They crop fairly late or I tend to as if you leave them to mature more they are hotter but you can loose some taste to spice..
  7. Morning all, Happy Valentines Day!!!!! No restaurants this year!!! Time to test those cooking skills out gents Thankfully working in a Restaurant kitchen and being a support chef to the Head in another back in my working history, my cooking is very fine tuned! Loving the look of some warm weather.. The hunt for me begins in a few weeks for the first 20c but that COULD happen before March! Roll on the 30 + days and long evenings with a BBQ. Hopefully in a beer garden somewhere to with all our family and friends.. I actually can't wait. Bye cold, been nice to see you (sort of) but ideally time for some warmer weather now and GROWING SEASON BEGINS!!!!!
  8. From reports further west not much is actually falling out of the sky. I assume its evaporating before it hits the floor. DP of -9 here at the moment suggests very dry air still
  9. Really looking forward to a warm up now.. Cold is brutal - 3.5 here.. Talk of 20c maybe but next weekend.. BBQ anyone?
  10. Only down to - 0.9 here overnight due to cloud cover... Looks like mild weather is gaining traction now.. How much rain is associated with that is un clear yet.. Could be some quite nice weather next week if we get some sunny spells and no rain.. Expect a rapid thaw of snow by Monday as temperatures climb to 10 or even 11c in some areas! Positively tropical compared to what we have had this week.. Only managed one ice day here I think Monday or Tuesday..
  11. Unfortunately not.. Seems the cold just gets blown away as quick as it arrives.. Granted winter 2020/2021 will definitely go down as one to remember and it's not done yet.. But as we head closer and closer to march the chase for cold for me goes away and the chase for early warmth begins. Cold in March is not uncommon but can be potentially catastrophic for farmers and our growing communities. With the current global and UK economy like it is due to covid its the last thing we need..
  12. Morning gang.. Looking forward to a warm up now otherside of weekend. As a garden centre this weather is brutal even though are plants are Hardy the cold drys out the pots as well but you can't water as it freezes. Doesn't look like the cold spell will go out with a bang unfortunately.. Rain and mild air in by Sunday and back to normal service of a westerly based pattern from Monday.. Could be some issues out east with snow melt and rain causing a lot of water run off.. Something to watch.. GFS actually brings in some very spring like warmth in the later frames but all very FI at the moment..
  13. Doesn't help that each day that passes now the sun gets stronger and stronger.. You only have to stand init to notice the difference from December.. Gaining near 3 minutes of daylight now as well
  14. Urgh.. More light snow.. Didn't think I would ever be sick of seeing snow falling but its doing nothing so what's the point? I was really enjoying the sunshine this morning and again felt really nice standing in it... Serious frost over the next few days...
  15. Well it's coming down here I'm under the tiny band in West London around Surrey..
  16. How about this.. Local road to me known for flooding because it runs of the hills.. But I've never seen ice like this..
  17. Oh no.. I'm an all weather man.. I even enjoy the really drab damp days as its the mechanics behind each day of weather I enjoy and study.. Sun rain snow hot cold drizzle fog.. Love it all
  18. Sunshine out here now.. I'm amazed at how mild that sun feels when you get out the wind... Definitely getting some strength back I'm looking forward to spring...
  19. Going to be interesting to see how this one plays out today... The NMM keeps that streamer going all day
  20. There will be some kind of reasoning behind it.. I guess we will find out over the coming days... Hats of to the NMM on this mornings streamer.. Closest model I can find showing it
  21. If you are talking about over Norfolk way then that is just pot luck.. This is how streamers and lines of convection work when coming of the North sea.. The difference of you seeing snow or no snow can be half a mile up the road sometimes which we all know how frustrating that can be...
  22. See track... The sea track is much shorter over our part of the world. Yes looking good... Hopefully builds through the day... not yet had a chance to look at steering winds but tim posted becoming more favourable during the day
