  1. Just under that cell to the west of London Heathrow way INTENSE rain flash flooding and it just wont stop!
  2. Quick but firce storm just came through here in surrey, winds gusted over 40mph easy for a time.. managed to video it all here is a still from the only strike when it passed over head..
  3. Amber warning from the met now West London Surrey through into Central London
  4. Very muggy and warm.. Did not fall below 18c here! I see we could reach 28-29c again tomorrow.. That will feel pretty horrible with how high the humidity will be. Waiting to see convective forecast but would not be surprised to see a moderate or even black serve box somewhere over our region today. Most high res models have some form of thunderstorms breaking out and could be quite potent.
  5. Avoid the M25 like the plauge around 2 or 3pm that section gets soild from all the traffic coming up and round from Uxbridge way and M4. If I was a betting man I would be somewhere on the outskirts of Cambridge ready to be able to move south west or east if needs be... Issue is these storms will be popping off at random then creating environments where they can fire sister storms. In this case its sometimes a race to get there before the main storm dies and the sister takes over and so on..
  6. Seems to be some kind of convergance zone close to Windsor/Slough.. Just driving to pick something up and a line of clouds is forming and slowly rising
  7. Here in the Urban Heat Island (I blame the mass of concrete at Heathrow) we reached 29.4c yesterday, a good 2c above the projected temps. Which is not un-common here. Judging by that we should breach 30c here today and tomorrow for the first time this summer! Currently 21.4c @ 7:09am and rising FAST!
  8. One of the best daytime storms in years here yesterday.. rumbles of thunder and lightning for well over an hour or so... my nan had her power knocked over by lightning which was not pleasant for her but they managed to fix it quickly.. the rain then came i Some great skies before it did arrive.. Some proper summer weather on the way now too.. with temperatures really starting to going up
  9. Loving this weather long may it continue! Sun... rain.. More sun ... more rain .. Not had to get the hose out to water the 150+ plants for a while now.. And the tomatoes look mental! Beef tomatoes nearly ready on some bottom branches!
  10. Yesterday went exactly as forecast.. It was clear by Thursday afternoon that the thunderstorms and showers were going to be a lot further North than planned and not really effecting us to much.. In fact yesterday afternoon when the sun came out it was pretty warm. Same to for today.. The main focus of showers and storms will be further North once the rain coming through now clears. Could be some decent spells of sunshine later as well.. Feeling warm and muggy.. Higher chance of a shower or 2 today but nothing major really.. The sun rain sun rain continues!
  11. This is the single biggest issue and threat to our planet de forestation. The issue lies with education, greed and money with probably added population growth in these areas. So many species lost to one desire to expand and create space. So sad. Agreed.. you could have giant carbon catches and nothing would compare to what is being lost. Even worse is some if not a lot is driven by the west...
  12. Imagine how much CO2 is being sucked out the atmosphere as well with everything in over drive.. I have thought what the implications to plants would be as Humans put more available CO2 in the air.. one of the key ingredients plants need to grow
  13. Sun rain sun rain... Doesn't take a genius to see that more water = bigger better plants regardless of temperatures. It is not that important if staying around 15-20c. It is light. Add in over average rainfall and a bit of sun you have optimum growing conditions.. I bet some of the farmers are laughing right now.. Saving on cost of water and seeing great outdoor results.. Biggest problem will be pests probably snails and slugs! A lot of people will notice the impressive growth rates on the laurel, bays.. even some of the slower growing tree species have excellent growth rates.. Some of the yew hedge I cut the other day was over an inch long! That is impressive for a yew hedge in the height of summer!
  14. LOL! You are salty.. "Absurd" So what if its not? Spread a bit of happiness and not the constant doom and gloom you post
  15. Absolute SH... You dont know much about growing then Ive flowering bamboo which happens once every 150 years.. grow rates of over 7" a week on some of my bamboo which has never happened No dead yellow grass anywhere and lush green rhodies and trees
  16. Blue skies here albeit plenty of cloud around as well lots of sunshine now feeling very warm and muggy... Amazing the difference in weather over a small area!
  17. I have to disagree Granted it was colder for longer but summer isn't about constant days of blue sky and sun. We live by the Atlantic unfortunately.. As I mentioned before the past few summers have set the bar way to high.. I'm loving the current rain sun rain sun...long may it continue.. Ground all dried out here already from the deluge we had 24 hours ago..
  18. Hi Dave, See below of a few here I have at the nursery This is just some of the stock I have here out of 100s.. The trick is to plant it with a barrier if you don't want it to take over. Trench out then line with a good strong weed barrier NOT A CHEAP ONE! This stops the roots spreading.. We have Jasmine and all sorts now as well and I can apply a 15% discount to any order to lovely Net weather people HAHA!
