  1. Chobham common, ally pally, box Hill, leith Hill.. there is lots!
  2. Early days yet and everything so far looks like going to plan reaching 29.9c here now on the weather station..
  3. Most if not all high res don't anything Substantial leaving Northern France till around 6-7pm tonight.. those showers/thunderstorms are surface based storms feeding of the very high temperatures there.. the storms later will be elevated and judging by high res
  4. The stuff leaving France now as far as I can see on models is extra and nothing to do with later.. look in the bay of biscay
  5. Morning all.. Looks like the heat and sun is lasting even longer this morning! Easily the chance of 30c between now and Thursday and some BIG storms! Just for pure fun and it made me laugh but the GFS 00z on its last frame shows 28c at midnight... Would never come off but that would be unbearable..
  6. Morning all.. Amazing growing weather now this year.. sun rain sun rain I've never quite seen the rodies with so many flowers and the growth on trees and shrubs is incredible.. in the nursery some of our bamboo is doing 2-4 inches a day! We haven't even had to water that much... Wall to wall blue skies here... the front cleared us late yesterday.. with a top temp of 21c still not bad despite the cloud cover Same old same old picking out the worst charts every time because they don't personally enjoy summer weather... for me it's the best time of year.. everyone is happy and everything looks so green and healthy... Judging by the gfs 00z plenty more summer weather to come and hotting up!
  7. 26.2c here yesterday in the heat island.. Expecting us to get very close to 29-30c here today if the wind can stay away... Looks like we breech 20c for the foreseeable future with the chance of some very warm weather to come
  8. Morning All.. got to 22.9c here yesterday in the Surrey Heat island.. although the breeze in the afternoon dropped the temp back. Some north sea clag to wake up to this morning.. No real issue will burn back very quickly and some strong late May sunshine again! Still some 22 days away from the longest day of the year and was light till 9:30pm here last night BRILLIANT! Entering the most favourite part of the year for me! Seeing the sun starting to rise around 3:50am is crazy! Makes fishing so much better... If GFS is to believed it drops its pesky low later next week and really pumps the heat in our first 30c could be appearing by the end of next week as slack winds and a continental feed wafts up some pretty warm air... still all to play for though!
  9. Sunshine out here already.. little earlier than I was expecting.. In the west London heat island we reached 22c yesterday... pretty decent! Beautiful weekend coming up..
  10. Fair weather cloud has bubbled up here but still pretty warm out... not checked weather station yet... I can't believe some people were writing off us reaching 30c this summer a week or so back LOL! That is a brave comment to make! Taken delivery today of some monster bamboo plants! They are stunning...
  11. What a morning to wake to.. Hello sunshine! Please stay around... Next week looks great!
  12. Well someone messed up the forecast... Torrential rain here (again) thanks to a group of showers moving through thr region... so much for staying dry till the afternoon.. this will scupper peoples plans this morning =(
  13. Was sunny calm and actually pretty warm.. But this shower has some strong gusts of wind coming from it... from nothing all day to very very strong gusts...
  14. Just experienced a very intense storm passing through West London/North Surrey. Hail and very intense rain. Also now classed as my most closest experienced lightning strike. Trying to find strike location out the back of my house over the small lake. Instant thunder and sent the hairs up on my arms. Not ever been that close to a lightning strike before and don't want to ever again that is proper scary stuff! You could "feel" the electricity. And just as I type this another huge clap of thunder as it moves off.. Oddly lightning map not picking the strikes up but 100% a CTG strike
  15. Primed for storms today you can feel it when the sun comes out This cell just fired in 10 minutes to my North
  16. Approaching 19c here now DP of 12c sun is out and and its very humid feeling in sun..
  17. Quite a lively little storm.. Lightning & Thunderstorms - United Kingdom, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland WWW.BLITZORTUNG.ORG Blitzortung.org provides lightning and thunderstorm information in real time on maps for USA, United Kingdom, Australia, new Zealand, Europa, Africa, Asia and other Countries. Show how quickly the weather can flip and change in this country.. frosty last week.. Humid and stormy weekend
  18. Morning all! Good to see some people getting some thunder early on in the day! I think today will be the first real feel of some humidgity feeling weather.. and the first risk at some storms for the year (finally) The further East you are the better and even those on the East coast if it all goes to pot may see distant lightning out over the North Sea IF storms do fire. It is all associated with the relatively humid and warm air that has been drawn up from the south that is clipping the south east.. As always model difference is HUGE AROME - What looks like 2 rounds of storms some early evening before it comes up with what looks like some form of MCS clipping Kent - not sure on lightning amounts though as conditions are not overly favourable our side for storms ARPEGE - Doesn't make much of the first round of storms that the AROME does but does also have some mass of convective rain moving North albiet more east than the Arome, still close enough for many in Eastern areas to see distant lightning if it does contain any/ happens. ICON - Semi agrees with Arome in that some form of convective weather early/late evening. It does have the Mass of convective rain later in the night but doesn't make near as much of a fuss about it than the above 2. ECM - Agrees pretty well with the ICON and Arome - It also shows the Mass of convective rain later in the night but again favours a more easterly solution. EURO 4 - Very bullish about storms - Pretty much has the most western favoured solution in that pretty much anyone at risk of seeing some form of rain/storm. Not really buying this idea and will await the updated runs during the day. Nearly tracks that storm that leaves the North French Coast all the way to Denmark.. Nothing from ESTOFAX yet Met office mentioning of storms in text but more eastern areas. UK Convective weather do have a risk with the slight being moved West depending on how it pans out. I would agree with this idea looking at how many different model outputs there are. SUNDAY EVENING: SE ENGLAND / EAST ANGLIA ... As the flow aloft backs slightly during the afternoon/early evening, the Theta-W plume over France may bulge closer to SE England for a time. Approaching PVA as the upper trough becomes increasingly negatively-tilted over western Europe will result in forced ascent - with potential for both surface-based thunderstorms to develop over mainland France and also elevated showers/thunderstorms more generally over northern France towards evening. It is likely most lightning activity will remain close to France / BeNeLux and the eastern English Channel, however as is often the case in such situations there is a level of uncertainty and some sporadic lightning cannot be ruled out over SE England for a time during the evening hours - as such the SLGT may be expanded westwards if confidence increases. Convective Weather WWW.CONVECTIVEWEATHER.CO.UK Forecasting thunderstorms and severe convective weather across the British Isles and Ireland for up to the next 5 days.
  19. Almost feels "tropical" compared to recent days. Very wet this morning but already moving off hopefully some sunny spells later which really will lift temperatures. And a risk of some storms later for the very Far eastern areas.. Potentially 21c tomorrow more like it..
  20. Pretty bloody windy here already wasn't expecting it to be this windy so soon.. Perhaps some kind of squall pushing through later on... have tied all the plants down and moved things around in preparation. Trees are bone dry which doesn't make them as flexible in high winds ... so expect a few broken branches trees down come the morning.. Nice to have a bit of "weather" for a change..
  21. Nope confirmed reading.. My weather station isn't cheap either in a very good location.. Same as one 2 miles away and one 3 miles away. Here is the closets one to Heathrow at Bedfont: Here is mine: Runnymede Lyne We have our own heat oasis here.. happens every single time we are near guaranteed to be warmer than surroundings areas. The highest temperature on all of them was also recorded within the same time period. Can 4 weather stations be wrong? Don't think so.. If we stay cloud free today we may even get a touch higher! Frost risk eliminating from early next week! The veg patch is well and truly alive!
