Anybody watched the week ahead by the Met Office on YT, looks interesting
Do you have a link to that mate?

It's really wintry out there tonight like. Still 1-2cm laying from last night in places, freezing dense fog and -1.5 already. Far from the standard December weather.

I'm working in Newcastle today the East end and I can't believe the lack of snow here! Just shows how localised things are at the moment. I woke up to about 3 to 4 cm this morning back home in Washington.

I agree it's tipping it down and the shower almost stationary.
Tried to get a video to show but doesn't do it justice.

Usually just sleet here as well, over the moon it’s proper snow, and settling.
Just been looking at the radar, looks a lot more promising than it did a few hours ago.
It certainly does Vee. Plenty more activity behind this if it doesn't fizzle out.

Same here as Washington it seems @P-M . Another cm or so come down over the last half an hour. Roads white again and sledge tracks disappearing.
Great to see the white stuff right on the coast too! After a slight lull it's going heavy again now. Got a red blob incoming lol
I can't get over how slow-moving these showers are. Over an hour to reach me from you!

Looks like Newcastle will miss out, unless some of those other showers finally make it inland. Looks decent for Sunderland and Washington though
Dropped about a cm ish so far here. The sea has defo come to life in parts tonight.

Scrap that it's turned to sleet

Light snow here now. Best make the most of it because there's nothing else coming behind this one

Well if its any better it's defo snow that's falling from the sky now and not sleet!

So the radar looks half promising now as they're moving more on shore. However i will wait and see what actually falls from the sky.
To be fair good luck to the southerners, so many years they miss out so I'm buzzing they've managed to get some snow this time around. At least up here we usually stand a better chance. Just not this time so far

I perhaps might agree in terms of snow but in fairness some runs were better than what we ended up with. Potential was there and whilst some comments saying we could be on the cusp of 2010 was OTT, the potential was there for the uppers to be colder than what they were.
I've always liked your voice of reality mate lol hopefully we'll get a decent covering mid week?

I think that's disrespectful to the many posters on there who are knowledgeable and even said this is not like 2010. Sure some may be hyperbole but the vast majority are not imo.
I don't think anyone was being disrespectful at all. There are as you say many good posters in that thread and I've learned a lot from them. But it's true there can be hype sometimes which I get is excitement, but non the less my point was I'm not going to buy into it. Or at least try not too. I don't think any offence was meant by his comments it's an observation. The MD thread itself is great the majority of the time but this cold spell is nothing like a lot of people hyped it up to be. Not even close yet.

Same. The cold spell that promised so much and delivered so little
I need to learn not to get sucked into it on the mod thread. It's never anywhere near as severe most of the time when it comes to snow Saying that it has been really cold and festive with a little covering so every cloud and all that.

Looks like rain / sleet on the radar
Typical it will happen here, will be sleet and we will get plenty of ice - great !!
It was earlier but someone confirmed it was snow right on the coast so see what happens. I'm a bit deflated with the cold spell at the minute lol

They use previous days data though. Although there's hints it could turn less cold they're useless useless this far out I find. Anything could happen yet I think.

Looking better for showers coming in from the sea. Wonder how far the will reach
I think it looks worse mate. Convective activity being squashed out of them as the day goes on. Roll on mid week see what happens then....

I wouldn't say it looks boring at all. The ppn charts aren't the best at picking up convective stuff. I mean the snow I had wasn't really forecast to any decent degree. Meto weather warnings in force now so see what happens as the day progresses. That meto video also showed areas of snow showers pushing into the North east from this afternoon.
