Battle ground snow is absolutely terrible for most in the south as it’s always rain.
Maybe in Bournemouth but 30/40 miles north we do quite well

In all seriousness I'm not going to worry about the finer details like precipitation yet. It's clear though things are going back on track with the ECM steadily improving. Very positive day to be honest. Still think there will be twist and turns and will be compromises at some point, but at least the date in question is still the date things are revolving around
Get the cold in, and in these sort of setups the snow will definitely follow. These next few days model watching are going to be fascinating and tantalising
Someone from Sheffield complaining about lack of snow, try living down here

Many in here saying a dry outlook but wasn't there lows to our SW next weekend which could lead to a snow event as per Met Office update. Have I missed something? Have these lows now disappeared?
That’s why the latest run is colder, personally I’d prefer the risk of lows coming in against cold air, much more fun

Definitely a downgrade
No chance that’s an upgrade. South has a chance of done proper battle ground snow, I’d rather that than weeks of frost and nothing else. GAMBLE

Just seems a strange choice is all. So much from northern Europe to pick from, where snow is practically a cert...
The trip cost £1000 half what other schools charge, they were going for the cheapest option but luckily they are now in Kitzbühel, a huge upgrade for same money.

I was thinking the same thing. So many skiing resorts to choose from in Europe and they went for Spain lmao
Calm down it was the cheapest option, it’s not a posh school but now they’ve ended up in one of the best in Europe for same price, not sure why you’re lmao ing

My daughters gone skiing with her school, was meant to go to Spain but there was no snow so they’ve gone to Kitzbuhl instead, massive upgrade and plenty of snow.

Every year it’s the same mild dry weather over Christmas, not even cold enough to put the log burner on, maybe move Christmas to March. I’m sure Jesus won’t mind

No offence old chap but I’m not sure central southern England is looking good unless it’s rain we want.

All three CET stations probably record cooler minimums than Sheffield due to the urban heat island effect, while Stoneyhursrt will record cooler maximums as well. We record higher average temperatures than the CET zone as well (i.e June 2023 had an average temperature of 17.5C here compared to 17.0C for the CET zone).
Cheers

Sunny Sheffield up to 15.2C +2.0C above normal. Rainfall unchanged.
Can someone explain why Sheffields average temp up to now is normally 13.2c whilst the average temp for England is 11.8c this doesn’t make sense.

Proper poor for July. Who would have thought this time last year we were baking in 40c heat. What a difference a year makes.
And I’d take this over that all day long

Looks like a perfect week coming up for me, temps between 20-22 all week with a nice breeze and sunny spells, I’m not sure what everyone’s moaning about.

Interesting how we often avoid fine weather in July, a bit like avoiding cold in January. Why May is often better than mid Summer is anyone's guess but its a fact.
The gfs looks very poor this evening, doesn't find any route to settled even in deep FI. After the glorious June, here anyway, you would have to think it's el nino at play
Must have imagined last years July heatwave

I was in my mid teens in the 76 heatwave running around in shorts with no t-shirt on, it was great!!, and all the Rams fans cheered Bobby Stokes
winner for the Saints after United knocked Derby out in the semi final at hillsborough a few weeks earlier, yes was a great time that summer.
RIP Bobby, you were a hero for a day up in Derbyshire
Good to hear good bless Bobby stokes

Nope working outside in temps in high 20’s is no fun and last year was the hardest I’ve ever known so hopefully this summer will be a normal one

Usual morning negative ninny’s having their say. ECM is a cracker, yes if it is 100 mikes north the south gats rain but it’s not so game on.
