The Beast From The East

My BBC weather app has just done the usual switching from heavy snow all day to just light snow today... It's like it switches and hopes that you won't notice..

We have snow falling at last...

So people are talking about streamers at the moment, is this happening at the same time as the main storm Darcy or does it look like Darcy has stalled further East?

I can confirm we just had 2 flakes fall... it's not much but it's a start...

Still nothing... Come on..... Snow ??

Deffinatly some sleet now, watching the rain earlier and it was just dropping down vertical under the street lights but now it's blowing across horizontally and it sounds more icy as it's bouncing off my window..

I really should go to sleep..... ok I will check onice more to see if it's snowing yet. ?

Still heavy rain here near Maidstone, the ground is so waterlogged.... if it turns to snow I find it hard to imagine it will be able to settle....

What a great feeling for a change to go to bed listening to the rain on the window knowing that it's only a matter of time before the wind starts howling and the temperture drops and slowly the rain starts to turn into big fluffy snow flakes... Very excited ?❄ So much better than the marginal stuff we've suffered or when we get a little snow but you know that the back edge of it is turning to rain and bringing in the mild muck.. I know I'm gonna make the most of it when it does finally start to fall from the sky and I will just gaze at it and take it all in... Then in the day ofcours get out and enjoy it with the kids at last..

Haha I'm 46 and feel the same... Hope everybody's Lamposts are working in there streets... Going to be watching mine tonight ?

Same as, I believe we had some streamers just the other week when the tempertures were marginal and it was cold rain for the weekend and about 4 degrees... I remember thinking imagine if this was all snow instead of the floods we got here in kent. Looking at the latest models then we should be fine. I think we may need the wind more from a NE rather than a straight Easterly but pleanty of time for that...

Like you say looking excellent with an easterly of sorts and temps slowly coming down from the weekend onwards and the latest bbc weather just now had a first hint saying milder for the next few days but a big shock coming next week.. ?❄?

Model related, could someone explain why all models look like turning cold with winds from the East from the weekend onwards yet long range forecast just now at 2155 said "Hints of milder weather next week" Thanks

BBC long range, " Hints of milder air next week " Booooooo...

And we all know from past experience that the model that shows the milder option always managed to be the one that is nearer the mark unfortunately

Yet another Saturday I look out my window to see cold heavy rain and the road flooding again... Just one time surely we can be lucky hear and get some falling snow for a change...

I don't trust day 5 charts..

Hope so as well. Fed up on missing out on every single snow event and ending up with cold rain. Not seen any snow so far this winter..
