  2. I'm right on the line between East and West Sussex, we certainly havent seen any noteworthy snow in this immediate area over this Beastly period so keeping fingers crossed for this weekend.

It all seemed so likely yesterday, today not so much. I do hope my fellow Sussex peeps get to see some decent snow at this last chance saloon. I'd hate to be in the party of remembering 2018 Beast for all the snow that fell around us ?

Either way, a plethora of drinks is at the ready for lamppost watching. I wish ALL of you in the SE bucket loads of snow ???

Wife and I, arrived at her work, Care Home in Elmstead Lane, Chislehurst/Elmstead Woods border, just before 3. Main road from  Lee to Chislehurst, not too bad, side roads looked lethal though. Steady snow falling, in Elmstead Lane, from when we arrived, started to peter out a bit, about 4. As stated above, radar returns show, southern edge of band, fragmenting now.

Would just like to thank, Great Plum, for his advice earlier, it prompted myself and Colette, to leave earlier, as I sensed the weather would start to close in, by 3. Although snow was quite heavy at times, it hasn't added much to the cover, here. Would also like to thank Hotspur61, for his warning about underfoot conditions, fortunately, cab  journey, was door to door but thanks, anyway.

We brought quite a few things with us and told the Care Home manageress, Colette would like to leave this old f..t, here but there's no way I could afford BUPAs, £1500 a week charge, for a room! Bromley Social Services, will have to take up the cost! :D Manageress has now press-ganged Colette, into helping out! Have told manageress, I want my own Care Plan, drawn up, and expect a bed bath, in the morning. :D

So nice to have been able to bring my Laptop, with me. Will be able to keep staff up to date, for their journeys home, when their shifts, finish at 7 pm. Colette can relax now she's on site, for tom. mornings', 7 am start Would expect to return home, tomorrow night, once expected slight thaw, kicks in. But we're prepared to stay another night, if the thaw is delayed and road conditions, still remain icy. Colette has a 7 am start, on Sunday morning too.

Any members looking for a good, reputable Care Home, to place an elderly relative, who live in the area, near Elmstead Lane, could do far worse, than this one. The staff are brilliant, including my wife!! :D My father, lived here, for 13 years, until he died in October, last year, aged 95. So that's a recommendation, in itself. And no I'm not on commission!! :D

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening and a bit more, radar watching!!

    Regards,

    Tom.:hi:

I so very much enjoy your posts Tom. I hope you and you beautiful wife Collette get home safely, enjoy the snow and i look forward again to reading your posts again next winter. Xxx

    Just got home-

here & another 2/3cm on top of everything-

Hoping for posterity that the last yellow batch crosses this area to go out in style....

Just a quickie Steve, is that us pretty much wrapped up now then? Only earlier I'm sure I saw a post from you saying the heaviest snow was coming between 3pm and 7pm? I assume it's all pushed through quicker than expected? I'm happy either way, it's Friday and I've cracked open an early beer, just wondering as the radar still looks full of life to me......I probably need to refresh the page ?

  5. As much as I would love to say I'd at least seen freezing rain once in my lifetime, I'm really quite glad that we have none (as yet) in Haywards Heath. It was my main concern for today with the schools opening, not the snow, but how on earth I'd get to my daughter to get her home if the pavements turned into sheet ice.

Hoping for one last blast of snow today. We've had very little in this area, really only having snow overnight Monday and falling through the day on Tuesday. Couple of little patches left in the garden but nothing to write home about.

At this stage of the game I'm not even interested in snow totals or it settling. It's Friday, the cold snap is ending and I would just like to sit and watch snow falling from the sky this arvo.....with a beverage! Nothing better!

Thank you to all of you for making this forum so vibrant and informative over this period, your humour along with your valuable insights has made it more memorable than it otherwise would have been.

Stay safe today and here's to one last blast  ???

Not thought I'd ever say this but I disagree with you. I've been watching this all morning and thus far it's been going in a straight SW-NE line whilst expanding to the East and intensifying. I was worried it'd be pushed West or indeed pivot and been expecting it to happen at any point but so far it's not done that. I admit it's baffling as it should but no matter what radar or sat I look at it simply hasn't.

Let's hope you're right Seb. Maybe it will get far too cocky and have nowhere else to go other than spill over into the South East...one can only dream. Still, very happy that the SE corner wasn't a fail this year and that many of you have been fortunate enough to enjoy oodles of snow.

I won't lie, I am absolutely green with envy watching that radar and the SW. That said, they too have been snow starved so look forward to pics and fingers crossed we all see a final flurry before we wrap this up!

  7. We have quite heavy snow falling.... sideways, here in Haywards Heath. Quite definitely not the sleet my MetO app is insisting it is. It's been on and off light snow all morning, but this is picking up pace and starting to settle on garden furniture and grass.

.... I wish I could be a little more enthusiastic about it.... Although that said, as much as I want the sun and some warmth, I'm still transfixed by it as it falls, I guess I'm not bored of snow yet!

  8. Hello everyone, just thought I'd swing by, catch up on the thread and confirm that I'm not the only snow lover who's craving some warmth and sunshine.

I hope you're all keeping well (and warm) and enjoyed your Easter weekend. I'm currently mulling over what to do with my youngest during the hols. It would normally be picnics and parks but it's not looking too hopeful with this chilly weather.
