  1. ok, just to lighten the mood a little, probably won't happen but.......

even if you don't understand the charts, they are what they look like......... cold.gif

Don't worry, it's all in hand, I gave a very thorough and in-depth explanation of the dark blue blob and ominous purple blob earlier in this thread. ;-)

  2. It's looking like the radar showing the blob in the north sea could be mainly virga....see it loads here in winter

Wow, was just reading through your signature, some really impressive stats. Seems so funny we are all talking about the hope of 2-5cms up against that snowstorm of yours... 27inches in 24hrs. It must have been incredible and even scary!

  3. Thats a great way of putting it,shame you could not post it in the mod thread it might have lightened the moodrofl.gif

Hmmm, could you even begin to imagine the tongue lashing I'd get? I like to keep things simple, all this ecm, ukmo, gfs can get a bit mind blowing, so for me.... It's hope, calm and blobs! ;-)

  4. Hmmm, well I just bought a sledge and I've had a bet with my brother - if it snows, he does my garden for a month in spring, if it doesn't, I cook him a lamb roast next sunday.

I've gotta say, the sheer pleasure of handing him the keys to the garden shed and the absolute smugness it will bring is what I'm hoping for (that and the pleasure of loving the snow)..... But on a positive note, I do cook a damn mean roast...

  5. I have to go on a journey from the road I live in to the road 20 metres away on Monday. I'm wondering if the extreme weather might hinder my journey. This will be from North Lowestoft, to another road in North Lowestoft. I will obviously pack the essentials for the trip: Ice pick, Shovel, Sleeping Bag, Scotch, Extra Cigarettes. Do any of the more knowledgeable weather enthusiasts think I should not attempt such a perilous undertaking?

I think you have all eventualities covered there, just make sure it's a 70cl bottle, you don't want half measures on such an epic journey!

  6. My brother is a teacher and I mentioned in passing that he could well be in for a couple of days off with school closures next week (he's currently teaching near hassocks) . What started as a mere observation has ended in him swearing it won't snow and promising to do my garden for a month in summer if it does. On the flip side, if it doesn't snow enough for a snow day, I have to cook him a roast next sunday. He's so confident, he's already requested lamb!!

I really hope I get to (smugly) hand over the keys to the garden shed instead!

  7. For anyone posting from their phones, if you scroll right to the bottom of the forum page, you should see a link for full site. This will bring the site up as you would see it on your computer screens. This will enable you to see locations and signatures. Just thought I'd mention it as I've just discovered it myself and I know some folks can't see the location in the signatures from their mobiles.

  8. Hi all, wonder if you can help. I had the NW radar the last couple of years which was brilliant, however my laptop has up and died (at the most inopportune snowfest moment) and I'm wondering how it fairs on a smartphone? Happy to pay for the radar again if someone can confirm it works well on a phone (Samsung galaxy s3,if that makes a diff).

I shall of course be glued to lamp post watching too :-)

And as I'm generally an observer rather than a poster, can I also take this opportunity to say thanks for all the great posts and info from you guys.
