In a 'love snow/hate rain' scenario, is there any chance that blob to the south will change course and head more NE later this eve?
This is a genuine question as I've no idea whether the wind can suddenly change direction if it's clear from a forecast to go a certain way.
(I'm here all week folks, asking the stupid questions you're to sensible to ask) ;-)

Just spoke to Kaddy
I asked her:
@KaddyLP I hear you're saying 2-4cm for Kent. Really? Is this event being over ramped by the media and BBC weather using "significant" ??
Her reply
“@KaddyLP: @HallingWeather some parts of the south east could get more... And that would be fairly significant for us...â€
then
“@KaddyLP: @HallingWeather and sorry for lack of detail but I have been at the #Energyfair today and not able to look at charts thoroughlyâ€
I'm not going to wash my Twitter for a month!!!
Is it just me or does Twitter sound like some sort of euphemism here..... ;-)

fax charts as they show at present
tomorrow has 2 troughs
the first one will come across kent around 9am
around 12 it will move west effecting areas further west
should give a fair covering from this
east then west
the 2nd trough will get to kent around 6pm
this will gradually move north and east
2nd one will probably give kent and essex a good covering
further west will probably miss it
east to north east wind
feeling cold 0-1 degrees
tomorrow night
now this is the germany low
at present i can see a low covering the whole south east
also
a trough over the west south west of london
this has to be heavy snow unless the low is positioned wrong
expect warnings for this from the met office tomorrow
cold -4 to -6
east to north east flow
more to follow
Now that has lifted my spirits far more than this glass of vino or the multitude of weather programmes I've watched this eve. As ever, thank you Mr P!

Ever get that feeling you wished you hadn't started something? Must be taking you ages to compile all of this - you're doing a grand job!

Have watched so many weather programmes tonight I'm now expecting a repeat of '47,'63,'87 etc in the next fortnight.....

Hi Tom, posted mine earlier, 6cm for me :-)
-
A slight uqptick west- 18z NAE
but whats also good for suffolk & poss norfolk & essex is the increase in PPN totals to 15mm.--
8-10 for me i will take that.... Smaller ratios 1:1.25 tomorrow me thinks
so 15mm =19cm
8mm =10cm & the low end-
3mm =4 cm
so my summry for tomorrow & slightly post that-
A sharp cut off zone across the capitol- much like friday- but in reverse- 20cms will be the jackpot, I think 5-6m will be the mean & the low end totals out to Surrey- more especially Thorpe - 2cm....
S
I will TOTALLY bank 5-6 metres!
-
Always red in the cold and white in the sun for me :-)
-
thats happened to me before
*spits wine out*
-
Half time score 6cm for me :-)
-
Apologies if this has been mentioned before but at 5.30pm on BBC 2 today, there is a winter watch special focusing on the incredible winter of 1963. I will certainly be watching :-)

Morning all, just wondered if there was a rough time frame for when this snow will (hopefully) touchdown tomorrow? I'm in West Sussex but right on the border of where East meets West, so am hoping to scrape into the snow zone.
More than anything though, I'd really like to see some guys who missed out entirely yesterday get absolutely walloped :-)

My 13 year old is off to upton park to see the football with a mate and his mum tomorrow. I have to say i'm slightly worried if these predicted streamers kick off. What if they get stuck getting back?
I feel your pain! All I can say is, as a parent you'll make the right call and as a parent you'll be rewarded with a crescendo of door slamming! Good luck x

Aside from a typical Kevin & Perry scene with my 13yr old daughter (she actually said "I hate you", slammed the door, stomped up the stairs, nearly took her bedroom door off its hinges and cranked up some awful music) because I wouldn't let her stay in the next village at a friends (weather conditions)...... its been a very good day for snow.
We haven't had extreme (check the cupboards for soup tins and dry foods) snow, but we do have a few inches.
Reading posts throughout the day, I've realised a fundamental thing.... Unless it's snowing to a point where it's gonna make us wonder if the army may need to be called to dig us out, we're never gonna be satisfied.
I know a few will argue that they'd be happy just to see a few flakes, but c'mon, be honest, we just wanna get snowed in!
Of course, that will inevitably be detrimental if it happened, but snow lovers still have a big amount of kid inside - we want epic (and then we'll just deal with the fallout as and when it happens....)
-
Hi everyone, mind if I join i. The fun, sitting here with my can of bud, glued to the radar, hoping that little blob currently over Sevenoaks continues its northern path without fizzling out, so it can drop a little bit more dandruff in my garden.
Hello Mo, just be sure to keep all bottles of head and shoulders safely locked away :-)
-
Well what a fantastic day today, lovely walk in deep snow with the missus, snowball fuights, nearly getting the car stuck in the carpark, and a lovely ruby delivered washed down with a few bevvies!!
This is once in every 10 years day to me as a snow lover!!
Sounds utterly perfect :-)
-
And the thaw begins :-( ...drip drip drip from the roof's , but it's the slowest thaw I have ever witnessed , I'm thinking the thaw will just start to get going as the temperature drops back to 0 degree's ...current temperature here is 0.7 degree's and the dew point is 0.0 degree's on the nose !..both slowly falling ! :-)
..... Beautiful icicles :-)

It's painful to read all the posts from people who haven't seen any snow today, I really understand your frustration having been in the snow shield zone many times before.
God it makes you feel so damn frustrated and angry when it happens. I'm not a forecaster, I can barely read a chart, but everyone on the forum who has had anything from a flake to inches is sending good vibes your way. I'd like to see nothing more than EVERYONE talking about their snow.
Don't be down, I'm sure it will happen and when it does it will be mega xxx

Moderate wetter (than earlier) snow currently falling in Haywards Heath. Thought it was finished but seems to be feeding in from somewhere (haven't checked NW radar in last hour though)

Kids are finishing school early, now to stop them from destroying my snow in one part of my garden so I can measure snow depths.
