  1. Had a little mooch around the other regional threads earlier as I was hoping to see lots of snow pics, there were a few, but considering what's been going on everywhere bar the S/SE, I'm surprised there wasn't more. Maybe our SE corner has more active members, but we love to show our pics (and talk bholloxks). Maybe we're more prone to ramping, but there seemed to be very little excitement considering the potential. I, for one, am very happy to be in this neck of the woods with you lot :)

  2. Ok, so these are the scores so far. Please leave me a PM/POST of any revised total and I'll pick it up tonight, when I get home.

Many thanks to all those that have replied so far.

Just out of interest, although Nikkib74 is no longer in the Cup, her total of 23 cms (level) and 2ft+ drifts, is the most I've seen from around the region. Can anybody beat that?

    Regards,

    Tom.

Had a few more cms since, gutted I was knocked out of the last round due to zero snow!

  3. Yes! I've won my bet with my brother! I now have him to do the first garden tidy up of the year. The bet was made on Saturday, I said he would have a snow day on Tuesday (he's a teacher) and of course, he does!

I am amazed to see that it's still snowing heavily outside. We've already had an absolute pasting and still it comes. By far the best event of the 'winter' so far imby.

Of course I wish everyone on the region had the same, but I'm really glad to see the coastal towns have some action. Must be infuriating when you often have coastal rain vs inland snow.

Stay safe and enjoy it people! x

This first pic is my front garden, you can make out a step, the second step further up has vanished. Pics are not great as taken from mobile and likely sideways as they always upload sideways to here when I post from my phone.post-13201-0-68130300-1363047801_thumb.j

Second pic is the back garden, you might just be able to make out the garden table, I think there's probably a good five inches there.

The wind has been relentlessly blasting snow at my back door, so I have an obstinate bald patch on the patio as all the snow from there is plastered up the door and window, probably nearing a 1ft mini drift.

A truly epic day and it's still coming down with the wind still howling. All the local schools are closed tomorrow so hoping to get out and enjoy it!

  5. Just walked home from a restaurant in what can only be described as a mixture of wind and snizzle.... Wizzle? Anyway, definitely cold, but not bitter. There was just about enough Wizzle on a car bonnet outside my house for me to scrawl NW.... my brother looked at me like I was a loon. Granted, he has no idea what that stands for and secondly it's clear I should never have agreed to the after dinner liqueur!

  6. Am doing the happy (champagne infused) snow dance! Having a lovely Mothers day, supping champagne and no one, I repeat, NO ONE is moaning at me for flicking through radars, monitoring NW threads etc happy days!

I've also just made another bet with my brother that he will get a snow day either Monday or Tuesday (he's a teacher), probably a bit hasty, but some child keeps topping up my glass.....

  7. Morning all and Happy Mothers Day to all the weather mummies!

Hmmm, it seems like it's another will it or won't it scenario, again so different from a couple of days ago when it all seemed so definite.

I do appreciate that our weather can be so incredibly frustrating, but it will make it all the more sweeter when the next epic event does arrive. As in, it actually arrives, touches down and we have visual contact.

Also, I'm pretty sure Mr Murr is still on his 9,999 post, waiting to make the 10,000th post during something memorable? If he's still holding off, then he still has some hope (I'll probably find he's on post 10,017 after I've written this).

Anyway, enjoy your day whether it's radar watching, looking out of the window, aboriginal snow dancing or being a pampered mum :)

  8. Sparkly wine for mebiggrin.png

Right, can you lot stop quaffing booze, it may be Friday and we may have a potentially exciting event.....but I am on a strict, calorie controlled diet, whereby I have been almost cradling a vodka and coke (yes, nursing and gazing at it lovingly and longingly) for an hour to make it last.....if all this talk of cracking open beers and sparkly wine doesn't stop, I may have another drink. I will then blame you lot when I don't fit into my summer clothes!

    .....and back to weather........

  9. I'm in the midst of enjoying an 'event', it's called 'getting a tan'!! Honestly, sitting here on the patio, the heat from the sun is really something. The kids are starting to prowl like lions, waiting for breakfast, but I'm refusing to go in and waste any of this sunshine. I might sling a steak in there just to keep them quiet.

Seriously though (its a horse meat burger), the British weather is incredible, to go from this today to Arctic by the end of the week, it's no wonder we're all fascinated by it.

I think I'd better grab some sunscreen..... before its back to gloves and scarves!

  10. CONGRATULATIONS Leemondo on the safe arrival of your new baby Noah. You may have to remind him, when he's older, that he experienced his first snowfall within a week a being born (hopefully).

All the best to your wife too, who sounds like she was put through a tough time. I do sympathise, a forceps delivery isn't pleasant.

So, new babies and potential for cold and snow on the horizon, I think that calls for a weekend tipple. Cheers to you all, have a good one x
