3 main ones gems the model of the day it got today bang on 5 days ago its up there with the others thats for sure
Excellent news! In fairness I think we should probably starting thinking in terms of the Big 4, the GEM seems to be verifying very well in recent times

Middle of next week is going to be an even better setup than today, with howling easterlies and snow coming from the continent, today was just a taste!
Wow that sounds interesting. Fingers crossed it actually verifies. Is it just one model suggesting this, or all three of the main ones?

Temp is now -0.1, with a DP of -0.8. Milder (actually I prefer the term "less colder") air moving in methinks. Still good for snow for a while longer however

Hmmm so no one in the region is getting decent snow are they? Sorry, despite earlier optimism think this is another midlands let down.
Am happy to be proved wrong though!!!
1. This was always going to be an event whereby we'd be measuring in terms of cm's rather than inches
2. Things are only just getting started in the east of the region
3. There is still the potential of a few more hours of action in the west

I would hazard a guess that that triple point of the frontal system is slipping away to our south west...not too sure though
I knew I should have swotted up on triple points etc..................in laymans terms, is that a Good Thing or a Bad Thing for our neck of the woods?

Really bucketing it down now, ever larger flakes by the minute. I guess the heavier ppn is moving across. Plus the temp is still holding steady at -1.4 (DP -3.0).
All in all, this is turning out to be a really memorable event. I'm not really too bothered what happens later (i.e. probably a bit of rain followed by a slushy mess in the morning), now that this dog of a winter has finally delivered a good fall.

you're cruisin' for a brusin'.....you bad Bish!
Are you talking about Bashing the Bishop???!
Erm, back to the weather..........the flakes are getting bigger here in Knowle, with the really juicy ppn still to head our way

and worth adding that an important event in the winter season has just occurred ....
....had the first snow ball fight of the winter with the kids
After your outrageous behaviour earlier today, I sincerely hope you copped a snowball in the "groinal area"

Steady as she goes here in Knowle, modest snow has been falling for the past hour or so. The wind seems to have died right down.
Temp -1.6, DP -3.8

snow/ rain? http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
Hmmm I'm not sure how much I trust Raintoday in these situations. According to the radar Telford and Shrewsbury are being buried under snow, and yet the reports on here suggest otherwise.........

Snow getting steadily heavier now. Temp is still gently falling at -1.4, DP is up to -4.2

Modest snow falling steadily in Knowle, really blowing about in the wind. Everything gradually turning white.
The snow seems to be quite granular, which probably indicates the cold pool around us. We'll probably see the bigger wet flakes after dusk, once things start getting a bit more marginal.

Light flakes turning a tad heavier now. Temp has dropped to -0.7, DP up slightly to -6.4 (but still colder than it was a couple of hours ago).
Bish
-
That's more like it..............snowing now in Knowle, very light but already sticking to the bone dry ground. Windy as well.
Bish
-
The lightest of light snizzle here in Knowle...........but it's early doors yet
DP is still dropping, now down to -7.4
Bish
-
Therefore it really should be here in Coventry any minute now ......
Probably another 30 minutes to an hour away I should estimate. You'll get the Solihull weather around 30 minutes after it has passed here
Bish
-
Yay! The first grains of snizzle are blowing around outside........almost there.
Bish
-
just deployed the measuring stick......yep, 1cm of laying snow
Please aj, there are women present :o
Bish
-
Temp seems to have stalled at -0.2 here in Solihull, although the DP has actually fallen to -6.8
Bish
-
Temp is currently -0.2, with a DP of -6.0. The wind seems to have really picked up in the past hour or so.

To me the bands early? Looks skinny and quicker moving than I expected. Or is it me?Had a flake or two in the wind earlier.
I believe the bands are expected to slow down and pep up as they cross the colder air embedded across the bulk of the Midlands (especially East Mids) and beyond

Grrrr the ppn keeps fizzling out before it reaches here.
I want it all, and I want it NOW! (stomps feet impatiently)
Bish

Somebody ban him, send him to the tower, cut off his head etc etc
ajpoolshark you should be arrested for inflicting mental cruelty and suffering lol
