  1. Below average temperatures, which is what most on here chase for most of the year.
  2. This is a stonker for the time of year, a potent Northerly.
  3. I don't think I have ever put heating on in July (when its been my own choice anyway)
  4. You are kidding me, you live at 1k+ in the Pennines so it cant be that foreign to you - temps slightly below average that's all!!!!
  5. To be honest it wouldn't surprise me if both Autumn and winter were Atlantic dominated again, I still think our best chance of blocking will come towards the turn of the decade with low solar activity, surely we will get a combination of +ENSO, -QBO, minimum solar activity combination at some point, that said it wouldn't surprise me if we get a short late Autumn / Early winter period of blocking this year, its just very unlikely that everything will fall into place regarding very cold air being over the continent being drawn this way, its always a long shot, 1995, 2010, 1993 being examples though. its all about timing.
  6. Yes absolute garbage winter, good video though, do you do older ones as well Scott like Gavin Partridge does?
  7. I had already seen it SS anyway as I looked on status updates but had already started the thread by then so too late.
  8. Thought so TBH, he is too good to lose his job and have to come back and unless he is going to do the opposite of most people and particularly professional footballers and go more for the buzz than the money it was always a long shot.
  9. But could I ask a few questions please stewart, Are you back permanently? (please say yes), Are you confident of a decent winter? (im not), When can we get some indicators for winter? What were your analogues for last winter?
  10. I would describe it as famous and legendary rather than infamous!!! The memory will live long and stay with me until the day I die, I will never forget it, one of my greatest moments as a weather (or shall I say cold) enthusiast.
  11. Like making sure I am around if an important run is coming out, having the ECM berlin strat charts set up for the morning so I can just reach over and click etc, etc
  12. And in fact its got to a stupid level now as well where my whole life is dominated by which way a model run goes in wintertime. I used to be like that at school but since Feb 2009 ive got even worse.
  13. This is one time of year when I don't mind a South - Westerly although I would prefer a North or North Westerly of course.
  14. Yes that would only be bettered by 2010 in my lifetime - unfortunately it wont come to fruition!
  15. Totally agree on both points believe it or not, the second one I couldn't put it better myself although everyone defends the met and say they are the best in the world so there must be some validity in it, I have never said I am a sun or summer enthusiast, I am snow and cold enthusiast and don't dress it up any other way.
  16. ^^ The most boring season weather wise, even the Met Office used the SST temperature for May as a pointer in their detailed forecast last year so its not too early to be talking about it, of course its too early to be making bold statements though.
  17. Not sure we are pointing towards anything decent this winter, mind you, I predicted a decent winter the last 2, what possessed me to do so in 13-14 god only knows but last year most expert expected a decent one so maybe me going mild this year will do the trick, my forecasting has been absolutely diabolical for a good while now! I totally agree with that but if I start a winter thread then I am doing no harm but it will get taken down straight away by you.
  18. Thanks for the replies, I did remember around this stated period though lying snow on the news in Kent but definitely pre summer, it was may, cant find anything DEFINITIVE to back it up though, I thought may 90 myself.
  19. Yes PJ, I was talking later in the decade mate, guaranteed +QBO this winter.
  20. God knows how confidence can be high for something far away, I suspect another winter dominated by the Atlantic and that will continue until we get rid of that PDO ridge that's dogged us for 2 years but confidence cannot be high for something so far away, I think we will get some corkers once that solar activity drops to the levels of the little ice age like its predicted to do, a solar min, -QBO el nino will be tasty towards end of this decade.
  21. Hopefully September 1919, Late Oct 2008 and Nov 2010, an early belting would go down just lovely.
  22. My mates missus says it was June but im trying to prove it didn't by way of meteociel archive but she doesn't understand chart, would be most grateful if someone could help, I think it was a May of either 90 or 91 not June.
  23. Id rather have a very strong Nina next winter, wouldn't normally ever say that but we might somehow slosh some colder water Northwards and end up getting rid of that high that's ruined the last 2 years weather.
