  1. Well rain has finally arrived on the north Cornish coast - I assume it is set to hang around for a while?
  2. Just had a solitary boom of thunder here - quite heavy rain at the mo. Radar shows a spate of heavy showers around us.
  3. Am on the north coast near Padstow - cloud is building. May be a while before that lot on the radar moves our way. Will report any developments if they occur. Fingers crossed.
  4. Has rained all day here - slightly cooler feel to the air but not much. Seems to have ambled over us on its way further up.
  5. Wind has really picked up again now after a relatively quiet afternoon - is there a secondary system coming in or is this still the remnants of last night?
  6. Very windy here at the moment (N. Cornwall) - sounds a lot more ferocious than the winds we had earlier this week. Windows are taking a pounding from the gusts but no significant or prolonged precip since it started (a couple of hours ago with a few sharp showers). Will check NW radar to see if rain is on the way......
  7. Ha ha ha :-) - had a few sharp showers in the past few minutes - things are definitely picking up around here but to be fair we usually have a good winter gale once in a while so it is nothing new! Any other Cornish correspondents on here tonight?
  8. Wind has really started to pick up here on the north coast of Cornwall - is this that windy feature off the coast of southern Ireland? I thought someone mentioned it as an extra feature before the problematic main low is supposed to arrive?
  9. Some bright blobs heading my way (North Cornwall coast) on the NW radar - have only just subscribed this week so still trying to figure out how it works (especially on my ipod). Fairly gusty here - but nothing too exceptional. Have had quite heavy rain throughout the evening but seems to have stopped for now..... Reckon within the next hour or so that heavier band may reach me.
  10. Quite a few distant rumbles of thunder here at the moment (out to sea) - moderately heavy rainfall. Wasn't expecting this!!! Just to add - sferics now showing up on Blitzortung site
  11. Hope everyone stays safe - haven't seen this much rain for a long time. Thanks for the update gotto.....
  12. Well, what a day! Went to Wadebridge this morning - lots of standing water on the roads - flood plains along the Camel trail looked very soggy no doubt worse now. Has finally stopped raining now - very gusty last night and earlier this morning. Is that it now or is there more to come?
  13. A beautiful sunny day today down here - the odd gust but nothing out of the ordinary. Will watch that feature that has developed with some interest................
  14. Thanks Jane Louise (and Coast earlier) - might get me a subsciption then. Thanks again!
  15. Just a quick question re the netweather extra radar - I use my ipod to view this forum. Would i be able to see the radar on it or does it need flash?
  16. Very interesting - lightning map was bare and then boom quite a few strikes in a short period. Think it has passed me by now - hopefully someone else can enjoy it further up the line. Still quite muggy though - might explain my migraine.
  17. Hailing now fairly heavily - thunder is increasing. I thought it was out to sea but it appears to be behind me ie coming up from the other coast. Power has just gone off for a few seconds - house alarms are going off up the road. Well I wasn't expecting that!
  18. Just had three rumbles here (and a fourth as I type). Fairly distant. Am in bed poorly so can't investigate further - always the way isn't it?!
  19. Lovely lightning shots - your first capture? Looks like you're an expert already. Thanks for sharing!
  20. Woke up about 15 minutes ago to very bright lightning and thunder. Still sporadic rumbles with quite fierce lightning at times. Heavy rain has just started.
  21. A met office weather watch has been issued for SW England (Only Cornwall and Devon so far) and SW Wales for this evening & tonight with "slow moving heavy and thundery showers" Ooh I like the sound of that. Lots of convection around here - some jet black anvils earlier this morning near Wadebridge with some very hefty showers. Not quite as vigorous back home but very interesting cloudscapes nonetheless.
  22. This afternoon's sky over my house (hope this works) http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/5/p1020878z.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/p1020876n.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/4/p1020873a.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/7/p1020858r.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/p1020857x.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/535/p1020850h.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/21/p1020879ak.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/p1020846y.jpg/
  23. Some amazing cloud formations here! Will try and upload some pics when my niece has finished playing cbeebies!!!
  24. Another grumble just now - i'm watching the clouds as they travel up the coast. Keep getting little gusts of breeze every now and then. It is a long way away but definitely something brewing. Usually they scoot past us and on up the Bristol Channel (if they have strength enough). Startingto rain now - fingers crossed! Thanks for the welcome btw!!!!
  25. Thought i just heard a couple of faint rumbles out to sea. Sky looks threatening and radar show some sferics about. I'm near Padstow could that be what is showing on the lightning map (have no idea how far away these things can be before you see/hear them!)
