  1. 2.4c here now, but still rain. Temp falling nicely though. MetO don't have us down for sleet until 7pm so not worried yet.
  2. If nothing else it'll be an interesting night. Plenty of window watching and street light staring Hopefully some people here see a good amount of snow. Marginality could cause some decent sized flakes too (if anything!), which is nice. Best of luck to all! But I have to admit I have a vested interest in Leicester doing well out of this
  3. Pretty sure you have to be a Netweather subscriber (paid) to view it. Looking forward to the first snow of this winter for here I have moved further outside of Leicester in a more rural village which is about 20 meters higher up before. Hoping them two facts combined means I might see one or two more flakes than at the previous house.
  4. I'm lurking, don't worry. I'll come out of hiding at the first sight of snow Weather at the moment here is nothing of much interest. Dark and damp, nothing interesting to report unfortunately.
  5. Hey guys/girls. Hope you all had a good Christmas. Not my favorite type of weather so far this winter. Relatively mild and very wet, and very windy. I love a big storm and strong winds, but perhaps not when it seems to have been windy for so long now. Would love to see some cold, and more importantly.. snow though I guess the two go hand in hand.
  6. Stunning display these past 2 days. Last night at about 1am there was a storm rolling off in the distance (almost half a minute between lightning and thunder) but it was an awesome display. The whole sky lit up in flashes of blue, with pretty regular fork lightning. I sat there for an hour watching it, and at that point, I wouldn't have moved anywhere else in the world even if i could And now, one of the most active storms i've seen cross right over me. Probably 5 to 10 bright flashes every minute. Exceptionally loud thunder, the kind that makes your windows visibly shake. It's a show of epic proportions and I love it. What a fantastic day to be off work
  7. Really fine snow has fallen here. Actually looks wonderful outside, has dusted everything in about 1cm of super fine snow - almost looks like fine flour. That mixed with the winds drifting it between 6 and 12" deep at some parts up the road and around houses, trees etc makes it look like a wonderland - despite there only being a centimeter or two on the road and 5 or so cm elsewhere
  8. Really hoping that intenser stuff east of Leicester doesn't die out as it gets here. Just as the better stuff gets close it keeps disappearing.
  9. How ? Radar doesn't even show anything over Leicester.
  10. Really seems to be losing intensity as it tries to head west. Or that just me ?
  11. Might just catch the edge of some of the green blobs, providing intensity remains. Just a shame as this will be the 3rd time this event that we have nearly been in the firing line for the good stuff.
  12. I'm hopefull but I think it'll miss Leicester, Nottingham looks more likely.
  13. Hmm, not sure about the alignment of this one for IMBY and those south of here such as Coventry, Northampton. It's too north westerly, will skim past Leicester into Derby/Notts
  14. Thousands of flakes falling now, settling as the ground has frozen in the below zero temperatures. Starting to create a dusting. Just wish I could swap these pinhead sized flakes for less, bigger flakes.
  15. Currently suffering tiny flake syndrome here in Leics. Anyone got a cure ?
  16. I think it should have weakened over the past 2 days anything that arrives should settle nicely. Yeah I can't either really. Seems to be stalled more than anything, though a few hours ago it infact seemed to be west to east almost so who knows. In better knews, -0.5c, light snow already sticking to cars easily. Not long before the ground freezes over with any luck.
  17. Been snowing very lightly here all day, tiddly little flakes. Looks to be getting heavier in the next 30 mins to an hour judging by radar (Providing they don't turn on Leicester Snow Shield)
  18. I hope so because that would make East Mids in a good position compared to West Mids for one Sorry guys!
  19. Met Offices UKV model is probably much better and higher resolution than anything we have access too. So they should be getting it right Off MetO site:
  20. Does anyone have some reliable information as to what's happening with the precipitation to the east of us. Seems to be heading towards us in a vague sort of way. Expecting anything from it ?
  21. Gradual thaw going on now. Fairly wet out their, snow fallen off car. Probably lost 3cm in depth already, only about 2cm left, roads are just wet.
  22. About 1" on cars, the road. And about 2" on the places it settles very easily (Wooden furniture in my garden)
