HAD a nice big heavy shower there that fairly covered the areas that melted on roads earlier. BEst snow shower of the day. Looks to Be more heading this way going back the big dark clouds heading my way

Was sunny here half hour ago and the heavy snow that fell before that was starting to thaw. My drive was white and now it’s clear again but this snow is atrtong to lie again lol. Very up and down today. Would be nice not to have the thawing in between cos we would have a few inches by now if it didn’t melt ?

Awh why does it do this ? lol all this excitement for that to happen. Is it supposed to or is it going to stay cold through the night? Suppose I can’t complain cos at least it’s falling in full force. I’m hoping my elevation helps a bit ?

Is this an all night thing? If that was rain it would Be lasting all night ?. I wasn’t expecting much snow tonight so quite surprised. Hoping there’s a good few centimetres before bed so I can take the dog out for a wee dander ?

Heaviest snowfall ive seen in years here -? massive thick flakes. I’m only back from Tesco an hour ago when I got soaked with torrential rain - now the heavy snow is laying on the really wet ground. Tried to post a video from my phone but it’s too large ?

I’m prob not far from you Gingercat. I’m working in North Belfast - just down from Cavehill but I live up over the back of cavehill in Mallusk. The roads in my area were bad this morning and the hightown Road was dodgy also - normally with a lift dusting overnight that road isn’t too bad with the grit and other cars - but I suspect gritting wasn’t done until early hours of this morning after it snowed as it’s on top of the snow and as it was so cold this morning the back road just froze solid - wasn’t even slushy with the cars. Probably ok now. Took my car a while to defrost enough to let the windscreen wipers move - snow that fell turned to solid ice.

Would be good if this rated true for rest of the night

I’m about 165m IIRC. It’s still snowing - Road was pretty wet before so it’s still trying to cover - those it is in patches. Footpaths and grass are lightly layered all over. I hope to wake up wth a nice white view ?

I’m in the East / I noticed the netweather forecast had the heaviest precipitation for my area between 3am-9am interestingly. That was when I checked it earlier this evening

What's the prospects for tomorrow evening / Wed evening? I've hockey both nights and wouldn't mind it being cancelled due to frozen pitch

I’m now hoping for pure cold from 5 onwards so my hockey match is cancelled. Game was cancelled two weeks ago cos pitch was ‘frozen over’ but it was 5degrees and just pure rain and not as cold as today. Apparently pitch checked earlier today and it was fine - checking again at 5. Fingers crossed it’s too cold lol

We still have lying snow in places on footpaths, grass etc but the roads are pure black ice. Dangerous. Was difficult walking the dog tonight. Anyway - I’m in the East. Doubtful of much action this evening. Possibly something in early hours of this morning - although that’s going by automated forecasts for my area. Some fresh snow would be welcome so I can get some movement in the car in morning to get up my wee hill. No chance in that ice. Automatics are a nightmare to drive in snow - luckily I can switch to manual but don’t have clutch to operate it as needed in ice.

Heavy snow in Mallusk - my partner arrived home a mere 10 mins ago and the car is covered and the car tracks on roads are completely covered in snow again - yay! Hope it continues for a while. It amazes me how quickly it can change - literally have an hour ago the roads were slushy, ground was wet in places (on top of lying snow from yesterday - we still had quite a bit) and any small amounts of snow that were falling (more sleety snow) were not lying.. Now it's full heavy snow covering everything again.
