  1. Basically no-one knows what is happening lol .. quite a bit of wet snow and now drizzly sleet coming down up here. I did see on the automated forecast for my area that it's to rain / sleet up until 1 then turn to snow through the night. I doubt any snow that falls will lie through the night though as it's fairly wet outside. Maybe if the temperatures drop in line with the 'predicted' snow after 1am, then it will leave a small covering for the morning - but basically not sure what's happening. Where are you guys watching the radar? Anyone send me a link? Thanks
  2. Melted very slightly overnight. Still had snow but must have heated up slightly. Cold again and no signs of more melting. Roads in my development are still packed with snow. Not many cars have been out of development. Just enough to let me out this morning tho required some tough driving. Hopefully gets topped up tonight.
  3. *She ?? Any in Castlereagh? I remember years ago when I joined I figured from one of you’re pics (prob 2013’s snow) that you lived few streets away from me. Then I moved to Mallusk last year, though my parents still live in the Castlereagh Hills.
  4. If it’s the international you’re flying into I’m literally sitting on an easyJet plane from Liverpool waiting on departure. Just boarded. Seems to be ok.
  5. What about this low for Wed? Any news on it? I’ve been travelling all day in England so haven’t caught up on what’s happening but sitting in airport waiting to fly home now
  6. Thanks to both Ronan and Sperrin - I definitely understand it better now. So when I see the charts I’ll know what they mean lol
  7. For my own learning, can someone explain to me the effects of this low - why it needs to be further south? How far south? What affects it etc? I know where it needs to be for us to miss it hard or for it not to disrupt the snow event - but I don’t understand why. Basically if someone could take 10 mins to explain the details of what’s happening. I’d really appreciate it. I’m an amateur and understand the basics, but beyond that I really want to learn
  8. Ah - I’ll be ok - I’m up in Mallusk ?. Flying into international at 5 on Tuesday, fingers crossed
  9. I’m flying into Liverpool Monday morning. Renting a car for an overnight work stay in Morecambe. Leaving Morecambe on Tues at lunch - I’m a bit worried about driving a rental in snow - would the M62 be ok to drive by lunch ... I’d imagine gritters will have been out and other cars during the morning would help make it easier to drive (that’s if I’m right in thinking that area between Morecambe and Liverpool is to be hit with snow?
  10. Netweather showing rain for Belfast instead of snow - is this just the automated forecast - other areas updated for snow but not Belfast
  11. How would a drive from morcambe to Liverpool fair on Tuesday? I’m travelling home from a one Night stay for work. Flying out of Liverpool Tuesday afternoon back to Belfast. Bit worried / anxious
  12. EEK I’m going to NW England on Monday. Renting a car. Fly home Tuesday. ?
  13. What about temperatures? ?? Wishful thinking on my part lol
  14. Is that this week? I’m hoping our hockey match at 7 on Friday is cancelled due to frozen pitch as it’s my sisters birthday dinner lol ?
  15. The guy that grits at my work is inearly today as temperatures dip from this afternoon but it’s due to rain after 3am. I want snow lol
  16. I’m so cold today. No sign of the snow from Thursday and Friday thawing up my way in Mallusk. I’ve heard it’s meant to snow on Wed night. If this snow doesn’t melt, then it’ll be a nice top up. But it’s so frozen and compacted on the footpaths and side roads.
  17. Any chance this snow might travel down the east side of NI! E.g Newtownabbey ? Noticed I was just inside the yellow warning area for snow lol ? would be a nice wee top up
  18. I thought it would maybe thaw today but feels colder and compacted snow is like an ice rink in my street.
  19. My question is - is the snow lying going to stick around for a few days? Will there be any more flurries to top us up?
  20. I’ve lived here for 2 years this November. This has definitely been the most decent snow event since I’ve moved up here. I remember living in the Castlereagh Hills during the legend that was winter 2010. What a year that was. I have a pic of me standing (at the edge - knowing I shouldn’t Be on it) on the lake frozen at Victoria Park by the City Airport. The development where I’m living is unbelievably beautiful tonight. Listened to some Christmas music while walking the dog there half hour ago. In my element. My partner went to shop tonight and almost 4 hours later his car is covered in an inch or two - would never have guessed he was out just a few hours earlier - it’s crazy Here’s a few pics from today.
  21. Another heavy dumping here in Mallusk right now
