  1. We escaped the worst of the showers here in the Northern Lake District for much of the day, with only the odd passing shower for much of the afternoon, though these became a bit more frequent late in the afternoon. Things have turned decidedly wet in the past hour though, the cloud is down and we have frequent heavy showers. Wind has been really strong and gusty at times as well. Got in a nice walk this afternoon though.
  2. Thanks. Just arrived, and cloud is down with persistent drizzle. Looks like things will improve into next week though.
  3. Cheers. Yes, very true. I'll be attempting to drag the family up Skiddaw at some point. The weather doesn't look too bad for much of next week after a damp start to the week. However, the midges will be a pain if it settles down too much! Always good to have a bit of a breeze to keep them away.
  4. Showers on and off here this evening, heavy at times. 10.5mm of rain so far today. Haven't had a day as wet as this for quite some time.
  5. It was wet all morning here, had 6.7mm of rain. It dried up around lunchtime but has remained overcast and very humid as well. Sky has now gone very dark to my West and South-West and some rather vivid echoes showing on the radar.
  6. I'm just about to head to the Northern Lake District for a week's holiday. I'm really hoping things settle down into next week.
  7. Overcast here this morning with light to moderate rain. 1.3mm so far and a lot more to come today judging by the radar and forecast, but it is much needed.
  8. Just turned rather murky here and we now have drizzle, so not escaped with a completely dry day.
  9. Yeah, looks almost completely dry in this area according to those graphics. Doesn't really match the metoffice text forecast for the region.
  10. Yeah, I can imagine, very much got to take the rough with the smooth living at higher altitude. Looks like we've faired much better in this part of the region today.
  11. It's not been all that bad in this part of the region. Yes, its been overcast, but its been dry, so a perfectly useable day and I'd certainly take these conditions over the ridiculously high temperatures at the start of the week. At least things are comfortable for outdoor activities and the house doesn't feel like a sauna 24/7. Not a comedown for me. Indeed, a big improvement.
  12. Another dry day today, but cloudy. Looks like we may finally get some significant rain tomorrow, which is needed to be honest.
  13. A much fresher day today and very breezy making for a far more comfortable day out and about. Humidity has been on the high side though, as noted above, but at least with the windows open, it's allowed nice cool air to flood into the house. No rain again today and looking very arid with grassy areas largely dead. No significant rain looking likely here in the reliable timeframe either.
  14. There does seem to be a very large temperature gradient from one side of my house to the other. Cooler and fresher in rooms on the windward side with a lovely refreshing breeze blowing in, but just moved through to the other side and feels really warm still. Should hopefully eradicate the residual warmth during today.
  15. So much better this morning, temperature still at 16.6C, but feels much fresher. Windows are all open and can feel lovely refreshing cool air filtering in. Breezy out.
  16. We've been living in a furnace these past two days, there's probably an abundance of warmth radiating from external surfaces keeping the temperature up.
  17. The heat is finally starting to slip away, temperature moving down steadily now after being stuck in the low 30s celcius for what seemed an absolute age. Now down to 26.3C.
  18. Yep, heat is hanging around and has now more than outstayed it's welcome, still over 30C outside here and internal temperature in the house has gone up another level again. Absolutely horrid.
  19. It's certainly going to take a while to shift the heat, still at 30.6C here and humidity has increased over the course of the day. It's a shame there is no decent thundery breakdown to enjoy. However, to be honest, I'm just looking forward to more normal, pleasant temperatures right now.
  20. The temperature drop is coming your way soon. Temp falling steadily here, now down to 33.7C. It will take a few hours to shift the heat, but hopefully some electrical activity in the process.
