  1. A stunning start to the day here, not a single cloud in the sky. An overnight low of 12.7C. It should turn into a perfect late summer day here, temps into the low 20s celcius and hopefully a nice breeze later, although it is very still at the moment.
  2. The metoffice forecast seemed pretty confident on a spell of rain, heavy at times, but I just couldn't see where this was coming from when looking at the radar this afternoon and the ppn that has turned up has decayed over these parts to practically nothing. We really could do with some decent rainfall.
  3. It was dry here until late afternoon, since when we've had some bits and pieces of rain, but this has amounted to nothing other than nuisance value, depositing the grand sum of 0.1mm. Still no appreciable rain looking likely in the coming days here and a largely dry weekend could be likely in this part of the region.
  4. A bit of rain here early on, only 1.4mm, from the dregs left over from yesterday's storms in the East. It dried up quickly this morning, but has stayed largely overcast all day, but a perfectly useable day out and about, a high of 20.6C. The one thing I have noticed this year is the lack of toadstools/mushrooms popping up in the garden. I'm assuming there just hasn't been enough moisture this year, as normally there are loads.
  5. A dry day today with no showers at all, let alone anything of the thundery variety, which is not totally unexpected. All in all, a decent day, quite cloudy this morning, but this gave way to some decent sunny periods by this afternoon. A high of 21.6C and quite humid, but a nice breeze to keep things pleasant enough.
  6. Unless something drastic happens, I think the best we can hope for is to see some very distant flashes from the storms over the Midlands/East Wales once it gets dark, that's if they are still going by then of course. Everything in this part of the world is decaying. Rain has just started here, which is the leftovers from the storms that sparked off over North Wales earlier.
  7. Sat at 80% humidity right now. There is the odd spot of rain in the air (slightly damp), perhaps that is having an impact on the reading? It certainly felt incredibly heavy out when I went for my walk before, very sticky.
  8. Well it looks like you'll get your wish come the end of the month. Right now, I'm just looking forward to flushing the excess warmth out of the house. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sunny weather in the summer, just not the intense heat of the past couple of heatwaves.
  9. Indeed, the Atlantic will be welcomed with open arms, though I'm not sure how much rain we'll actually see to be honest, not convinced there will be anything significant in the short to medium term (here at least).
  10. The temperature may be several degrees lower today, but it has been overcast and extremely humid all day, so very uncomfortable out, 80-90% humidity throughout. A period of moderate rain this morning only produced 0.8mm of rain. I thought there would be more judging by the radar. I'm certainly looking forward to the fresher air after tomorrow.
  11. An overnight low of 16.7C here. A contrast to the previous sunny mornings, with a predominantly cloudy and unstable looking sky.
  12. It was the hottest day of the week today, but it's actually a degree or two cooler now than the same time on the previous two evenings. This is probably due to partial cloud cover over the past hour or two which has caused the temperature to fall quicker than the previous two evenings.
  13. Maxed out at 33.7C in the end. Dropping away now, currently 32.7C. Humidity still relatively low here according to my station, 30%.
  14. Cumulus clouds are developing more here and getting darker bases. Temperature reached 33.4C about 15 minutes ago.
  15. It has certainly been a regular occurrence this summer here, not just nudging 30C, but getting comfortably into at least the low 30s celcius on several separate days. Time will tell if this is a pattern that becomes more consistent, but chances are it may well do given the warning trend in recent years, coupled with the increased potential for extremes of weather.
  16. It has been a terrible year for storms in this part of Cheshire, no thunder heard all year. However, the metoffice have issued a warning for storms tomorrow and Tuesday, so must be seeing some potential, although they do note the hit and miss nature. I'll treat even one rumble of thunder as a success given how bad this year has been!
  17. 32.9C reached here a short while ago. Some small amounts of cumulus clouds have developed to my South.
  18. Just hit 32C here, so the hottest day of this heatwave. There do seem to be a few clouds bubbling up now.
  19. Currently 30.5C here now with very little wind, a degree up on the same time yesterday. Too hot to do much other than sit in front of a fan. Skies seem a little hazier than yesterday and pressure on the way down. Metoffice haven't updated their storm warning for tomorrow and Tuesday, which still covers the same large area.
  20. Yeah, humidity rising markedly by tomorrow so a very warm and muggy day to come. I suspect you may be in one of the best locations in the region for convective opportunities later today and tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how the metoffice fine tune their warnings today, or if they maintain the broad brush approach.
  21. Another warm night with the minimum temperature higher again than the previous night, a low of 15.3C. Signs of instability with a bit more cloud around this morning, but another hot day today. I'm looking forward to the more comfortable, fresher weather which will hopefully arrive Tuesday/Wednesday to provide some relief and to allow normal activities to resume.
  22. Yeah, I guess they are doing well in excess of 150mph at their 'slow' landing speed. Planes aren't usually that low down here as they are normally landing towards the South-West, but given the East/NE wind direction these past couple of days or so, there are a lot more than usual swinging into the airport from this direction. Where I used to live in Stalybridge, I was smack bang below the predominant flight path into the airport, some used to be well low down.
  23. I've just seen that same jet overhead two minutes ago, doing it's final turn into Manchester Airport, so was only a couple of thousand feet up, quite a roar.
  24. 31.9C was the max temperature here in the end. Currently 31.2C. I'm sat out in the garden, but feels even warmer than the same time yesterday, probably owing to the fact there is not a breath of wind.
