  1. Not a direct hit here, but plenty of lightning seen so far and low rumbles of thunder. Beggars can't be choosers after how bad this year has been. Nearest strikes were about 8 miles to my West, but I've seen lightning to the South East of here as well from another cell.
  2. The storm over Shropshire was looking good, but lightning seems to have died off now. That's a shame as it seemed to have legs having tracked all the way up from the South Coast.
  3. The storms look very active, so I suppose if we don't get a direct hit, at least there should be a decent light show when it gets dark.
  4. Yep, wouldn't surprise me at all. I have very little expectation for later given how poor this year has been for storms in this area. There is a nasty gap between the two main areas of storms right now. We need that to fill, then I may raise half an eyebrow.
  5. The timing is looking excellent, mid to late evening, so will be dark. Storm activity looking great down over the South West right now. What could possibly go wrong?
  6. Sunny skies this morning, then clouded in this afternoon and just had a few light showers. Later this evening is looking potentially very interesting. Storm activity is really getting organised across Wales and the South West right now. It's been a pathetic summer for storms in this area, would be nice if this were to be rectified in style this evening.
  7. I don't know if we had any lightning/thunder here overnight. If there was, it wasn't loud enough to wake me at least. However, we have at least had some measurable rain. 2.4mm recorded since yesterday evening. A nice start to the day here, chance of more thundery rain tonight it seems.
  8. Some significant rainfall finally made it here, moderate rain for the past 10 minutes or so. 0.3mm deposited so far, a positive deluge for here in recent times!
  9. A warm and muggy day again. Just had a brief light shower, but not enough to even slightly dampen the ground.
  10. An overcast start here, but dry. No rain recorded overnight, so looks like we have dodged it yet again and another largely dry day could be in prospect, despite the forecast. The Welsh hills are gobbling up any rain that is destined for here.
  11. As I suspected might be the case, it stayed virtually dry here all day with the rain fizzling out as the remnants eventually moved across. There was the briefest of light showers whilst I was out on my bike late afternoon, but this only lasted for about 20 seconds, so hardly worth mentioning. More rain forecast for tomorrow by the metoffice...
  12. Hazy sunshine has been replaced by more general cloud cover now. Loads of rain on the radar out West over the Irish Sea, but given the way this is moving, I really can't see us getting more than one or two light showers at the very most at some point this afternoon. Currently 21.6C, certainly warm and muggy out.
  13. A warm night last night, minimum temperature was 15.8C. Hazy sunshine this morning. Rain forecast, but not convinced we'll see much, if any here today.
  14. Another warm, dry and mostly sunny day here again, a high of 24.1C. A nice starry sky this evening. This is likely to be the last dry day for a while as it's all change tomorrow as things turn more unsettled. Things staying on the warm side over the next few days by the looks of it though.
  15. Not one single rumble of thunder heard here this year, hopefully we can break the duck over the coming week.
  16. Another cracking day with largely sunny skies and warm again too, a high of 23.3C. Another lovely sunset to end the day as well right now. Looking like we may squeeze out one more decent day tomorrow before the transition to unsettled conditions over the weekend. It will be a bit of a shock to the system after the predominantly dry weather recently.
  17. A stunning end to the day here, lovely sunset with plane contrails glowing orange/red as they drift through the sky.
  18. Another decent day here with long sunny spells. A high of 21.2C. A more notable breeze compared to yesterday. It is looking rather like the breakdown to more unsettled weather will occur over the weekend and with low pressure parked close by, we are unlikely to keep avoiding significant rainfall in this part of the region. It has been a very decent summer and the breakdown to more prolonged unsettled conditions had to arrive at some point. It's good that it's held off until the end of the summer holidays.
  19. A much better day today with plenty of sunshine and a high of 21.2C. Two or three more days of settled weather by the looks of it before the breakdown to more unsettled conditions over the weekend.
  20. The rain did reach here, but very little. My station recorded 0.1mm of rain overnight, so only a trace amount of rain occured here in the early hours of this morning.
  21. After a mostly overcast afternoon, the sun has finally made some very brief appearances through the smallest of chinks in the cloud, but that's about as good as it is going to get by the looks of it. It was looking promising late morning when we had around 20 mins of sunny intervals before the sheet of grey cloud drifted across from the East.
