  1. It's sunnier here than it is there on average so you're absolutely wrong. My nearest Met station has 1570 hours of sun on an average year. Around Birmingham it's more like 1400. And were very often much warmer than you - or just as warm.
  2. Saw the eclipse about an hour ago but we have very thick fog here now so no blood moon to see. Good pics coming through.
  3. Roundhay Park is good. There are buses towards there - number 2, 3, 12 from the city centre. It's about 100m ASL. Temple Newsam is another one. Most places away from the centre will generally be good tbh.
  4. Wow, that's a cold high pressure. Would like to see that verify.
  5. I'm more shocked by that August total - cripes! We had around 180 hours in August. September is well behind but reasonable nonetheless.
  6. Welcome. This thread is rather quiet now but will liven up when snow appears in the charts! Are you living in the city centre?Yes, it's been decent. Very foggy this morning though. You night notice more fog here compared to back home.
  7. Not many here either. Saw my first of the year about 3 weeks ago - not much since. However, there is a wasps nest inside a tree at the White Rose centre in Leeds . I kept my distance.
  8. No, definitely not. Doesn't rain much, nor is it very windy. This year has been consistently windy but it was unusual.
  9. This point seems to be flying over everyone's head - no idea why people are ignoring it.
  10. 2012/2013 was great here - loads of snow. Not very cold except for March though. Too cloudy for very low minima, but we had about 5 ice days - 3 in Jan and 2 in March. We also had 25cm of level snow in late January, similar in March, a 15cm fall in February - all in all it amounted to the snowiest winter I've experienced. We must have had near 100cmm in total that season - but it melted between falls so obviously never approached such depths.
  11. If we believe your posts, every single month since 2007 has been vile and unpleasant in Aberdeen.
  12. Yup, those were my thoughts as well. Good to see some degree of agreement this far out.
  13. Surely when talking about cold and mild we are meaning relative to average, not in absolute terms. So I'm going for 50/50 as it can go either way. Though, funnily enough, the Jamstec long range model is going for a colder than average winter across N/W Europe with the cold anomaly centred on the British Isles.
  14. That time of year again.. I wasn't awake this early but it appears the day started off clear, with some fog along the Aire Valley.

Fog a long the Aire Valley in Leeds
  17. Most people don't suffer from SAD - and to the best of my knowledge, nobody I know suffers from it. Most people just continue as normal. Lack of sunlight can be annoying at times, but for most of us, it's a mild nuisance rather than a cause for severe depression.
  18. I'm much the same. I find certain weather types boring or annoying, but never depressing. A thick blanket of cloud is dreary, but it doesn't make me want to kill myself.
  19. I can see the positives of all seasons. The sky felt wintry today and it was actually kind of nice in a strange way. Like the type of day that you get all nice and wrapped and then go home and put the fire on. Also we've had some lovely crisp autumn sunshine recently. Just need some snow now.
  20. Katesbridge, NI fell to -1C in July. Would that be the first or last of the season?
  21. What the BBC were saying for this time: What actually happened: Turned out to be a nice day and reached 19C.
  22. And I wouldn't have it any other way. That's the Christmas I've come to love over the years and anything else just doesn't feel the same. Full to the brim, slightly tipsy, and an Eastenders Christmas special - fine by me! The weather doesn't even matter.
