  9. A tad ott prehaps 90F HEATWAVE THIS WEEKEND A LATE summer heatwave is set to send temperatures soaring to 90F (32C), forecasters said last night. Swathes of the country will enjoy a “barbecue weekend†of glorious sunshine and blue skies. And the longest warm spell of the summer is likely to last until October. Temperatures are set to rocket from today, with widespread highs in the 80s across southern England this weekend. There is a chance the mercury could even nudge 90F in parts of the country on Sunday as a blast of “tropical†air pushes humidity to 90 per cent. The best of the weather will be in the South, while the North is expected to be cooler with the chance of rain. As thousands flocked to beaches and parks to make the most of the long-awaited sunshine yesterday, Jonathan Powell, forecaster for Vantage Weather Services, said: “It is going to be absolutely glorious from Saturday with temperatures peaking on Sunday. “The South-east is going to enjoy a real scorcher, a proper barbecue weekend, and there is the chance of even breaching the 90F mark.†Charlie Powell, of the Met Office, said: “High pressure will keep it generally dry and fine over the next couple of days, especially in the South and South-east. “Saturday we could see temperatures up into the 80s with plenty of sunshine and again dry and fine on Sunday, although turning more unsettled after that.†The rest of the month will be warmer and sunnier than average, though the heatwave will end in a brief chilly spell. The beginning of next week is likely to see heavy showers across much of the UK with temperatures dropping into the 60s before the better weather returns. Leon Brown, meteorologist at The Weather Channel, said hurricanes Leslie and Michael would influence our weather. “This tropical activity will help pump warmth up to the north-east Atlantic so, after a distinct drop in temperatures early next week, it should become warmer again later.†He said the hot weather could last until October. The warm spell is in stark contrast to the rest of the summer, which was the wettest for a century. It sparked a surge in sales of comfort food, including fish and chips, stews and soups, according to supermarket Tesco. It also reported an increase in sales of outdoor heaters, Wellington boots and umbrellas. The washout summer has also damaged the pea harvest, say farmers, with yields down by almost 50 per cent. http://www.express.c...ve-this-weekend BUNK OFF TODAY FOR LAST OF THE SUMMER RECORD numbers of Brits are expected to dodge work today to soak up the last of summer. Temperatures are predicted to reach a sizzling 28C (82.4F) in the south by Sunday. Hotels in southern resorts have seen a late surge of weekend bookings – many from northerners prepared to travel for a tan. Travelodge are booked up at many of their seaside hotels. Spokesman Shakila Ahmed said: “I think a lot of bosses will notice a sudden drop in staff on Friday. ‘‘A lot of bookings have come from people in the north looking to enjoy the southerly sun.†Temperatures will peak in the south on Sunday. Elsewhere in Britain it will be warm but cloudy and showers are expected. Forecasters at The Weather Centre have told Brits starved of the sun during a miserable summer to relish the rays while they can. Spokesman Leon Brown said indications are there will be a dramatic drop in temperatures early next week. He added: ‘‘It should become warmer again later, but probably windy over the north by Thursday and Friday.†http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/271027/Bunk-off-today-for-last-of-the-summer/
  10. After an unsettled few days it begins to turn a bit more settled certainly for the south later next week The one thing I have noticed on the 00z is there are no major storms for the UK, they have all either been downgraded or moved further north There is also no cold air apart from one very short lived cool spell early next week
  11. NOW INDIAN SUMMER WILL LAST INTO OCTOBER BRITAIN is beginning to enjoy the longest spell of hot weather so far this year. A glorious last-minute tropical burst of summer could last late into October, forecasters said last night. After one of the worst summers in history with weeks of persistent rain and below-average temperatures, a sudden shift in the position of the jet stream has at last dragged hot air in from the Continent. The Met Office said temperatures will creep up all this week with highs in the 80s likely by the weekend. Forecaster Chris Almond said: “Over the next few days most places are going to be nice and dry. Temperatures are looking slightly above-average for the time of year and by the weekend we could see highs of 82F (28C) in the South.†Jonathan Powell, forecaster for Vantage Weather Services, said Britain can look forward to non-stop sunshine and unbroken blue skies. http://www.express.c...st-into-October

AT LAST, A SIZZLING SEPTEMBER BRITAIN will bask in two weeks of glorious sunshine as a late summer burst finally delivers some welcome cheer, forecasters predict.Temperatures are expected to soar this week with parts of the country enjoying highs up in the 80s. The predictions are that the good weather will continue until the weekend and could even last until the end of the month. Jonathan Powell, forecaster for Vantage Weather Services, said: “This is likely to hold out for the next two weeks and even beyond. “This is thanks to high pressure drawing continental air from the South.†http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/343869/At-last-a-sizzling-September
  20. Netweather's Autumn forecast is out now its fairly average through out with only potentially October becoming cooler than average
  21. Netweather's Autumn forecast is now out A look at September We wouldn't normally cover the current month in this forecast, but as we didn't update in August as the Summer forecast was still current, we start with this month. The outlook is for a different month to what we've become accustomed to during the summer with many regions away from the western half of Scotland expected to be drier than normal. Temperatures are forecast to be close to, or slightly warmer than the norm. October Another drier than average month is expected in October, but with pressure currently forecast to be highest to the northeast of the British Isles it could mean some fairly chilly temperatures with most regions expected to be close to or a little below average. November Into November and the forecasting model is currently expecting a change with rainfall back up close to or above average across the majority of the UK. Temperatures are forecast to be close to average at this stage - but of course at this range confidence does really start to drop away. And a quick look into December and it is shown to stay pritty average with temps and rainfall close to average December Confidence really is very low at this stage, but looking briefly to the start of winter the current expectation is for both temperatures and rainfall to be pretty close to normal for the time of year. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=longrange;sess= More than happy with that outlook
  22. And very interesting and at time close to Hot run from ECM tonight A settled week gives way to a blip of low pressure But don't worry this is where is become interesting and close to hot Pressure rebuilds Then bingo the perfect set-up 30c is more than possible with that set up
  23. A warm weekend remains on the cards tonight from GFS However a breakdown is shown to occur on Monday And this set's up an unsettled week next week UKMO however isn't as positive for the weekend
  24. 10 DAYS OF SUNSHINE AS BRITAIN'S INDIAN SUMMER FINALLY ARRIVES BRITAIN'S Indian summer has finally arrived as the country is set for 10 days of sunshine. Temperatures are set to reach a balmy 80F (27C) over the next 10 days, forecasters have predicted. Britain's lost summer fizzled out on a low note at the end of August with temperatures plunging to their lowest on record for the month in 40 years. But now the weather is set to improve with warmer and drier days to come flooding in. A band of high pressure will see temperatures rise this week and into next, meaning the beginning of September will be distinctly warmer. A Met Office spokesman said: "There will be largely fine conditions for those visiting the #Paralympcis this week. Today expect a fine and dry day with some decent sunny spells across the region. "It will feel warm with light and variable winds with temperatures hitting 25C." Fans heading to Bestival will be happy as temperatures are set to reach a 80F high on Saturday as the warm weather continues well into next week. The drier spell will come as a relief to parts of the country battered by torrential rain and strong winds. In Cumbria the River Ehen overflowed, flooding roads and causing part of a four-storey building to collapse. Nine cows were killed in Shepway, Kent, when lightning hit a tree they were sheltering under, bringing it down on top of them. http://www.express.c...inally-arrives-
