  1. Come on. Come on. I hope we don't get a couple of rumbles and a few flashes, it would be such a let down.
  2. Those are the ones. Didn't they look great against the sunset?
  3. This one. I just can't get the right result when it's sunset or dark. It has a sunset scene mode but the pictures actually come out worse than standard mode on this. last night we had a beautiful sunset, but I just couldn't get it to capture the deep red. I can't get it to capture the darkness and detail in the huge cloauds outside now. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
  4. I can't get a decent result wiht my camera, but outside looks increddibly menacing with these clouds but they are very very dark. Why can't I get my camera to produce exaclty what my eye sees
  5. Got a very sudden build up of moody looking rain clouds. Lots of scud cloud suddenly formed as well. When it drops it will drop a lot of rain, but will it drop here?
  6. Definately some rain filled cumulus on the horizon. Once again though I doubt it will drop on us.
  7. Really? My local area was forecast heavy showers according to most forecasts. We're also forecast showers for 7pm.
  8. No sign of the heavy rain we're supposed to be getting.
  9. This one. Do you have any tips for how best to capture things like sunsets and storms? I played around with it last night when we had an amazing sunset, but I couldn't get the deep red colour.
  10. Gah, they took away our thunderstorm forecast at the last minute on Met O Has anyone seen this? Amazing sunset last night.
  11. The sunset here is outstanding, it's making all my walls glow red. Any pictures I take of it, don't show the deep pink colour unfortunately.
  12. It still says thundery showers for 4pm tomorrow.
  13. How does mammatus affect what an anvil could produce?
  14. We have Thunderstorms forecast for North Kent also according to MetO.
  15. How can you tell whether a storm is organised or not? That seems to be the defining characteristic between a single cell and a multi cell according to the Guide to Thunderstorm Setups? Secondly just by looking how can you tell the difference between the two? Thirdly when a thunderstorm occurs and lightening seems to be happening in several different areas, is that a multi cell or different single cells?
  16. That's him! Oh and I got all excited as well MetO is forecasting a thunderstorm for tomorrow afternoon into the evening *fingers crossed* Hang on, is he the same bloke that claimed the Japan tsunami was caused by a solar flare?
  17. Who are you guessing at? Enlighten me oh great one for I am naive in such matters.
  18. Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I meant to type it looked like he had a supercell. I'm only a newbie so I cannot even begin to tell one type of storm from another so to declare he had a supercell would have been foolish of me although I realise that's how it came across. Basically what I was trying to say was it looked similiar to one. Thanks for the info regarding what a supercell is though Forgive the newb
  19. Blanket of grey cloud with patches of blue sky. Warm outside. keeps looking like it's going to rain but it doesn't seem to be able to.
  20. If it's any help he was the man that always comments on weather in topical shows. You see him on things like The One Show and Daybreak etc, so I suspect he may be somewhat of a sensationalist meteorologist.
  21. I'm not sure what channel it was on but the programme was called something like Weather View (or something very similar). Ha, that's what I thought!
  22. On TV last night there were discussing the lack of rain in North Kent and how hot it's been for this time of year. They had a meteorologist on who reckoned that eventually the weather we've been having will build up a 'bubble' that will eventually result in a huge huge huge storm when it bursts by an injection of very warm air from France. He thinks it will be the biggest storm the SE will have seen for decades (87 hurricane aside). Thoughts on this? On a separate note it looks like it is desperately trying to rain outside, not sure it will though.
  23. I have a regular digital camera, it's good quality but nothing professional. It's 14 Megapixel and I can't afford a top notch camera or video recorder. What kind of results can I expect? Am I still capable of getting good footage?
