I agree with ol' Bill. I do like the naming of storms, but Bill's comments point exactly towards the thoughts of others, that our forecasts have become really dumbed-down. I very rarely watch a forecast on TV these days, unless thunderstorm activity is likely in the vicinity. It's not down to the fact that I have access to weather models or online information either, its because I don't enjoy the presentation of them anymore.

Started off with blue sky, then it turned hazy - which it stayed like. Temp: 10.6°C - Hum: 66% - Dew: 4.5°C - Bar: 1018.39hPa - Wind: WSW ~ W @ 5mph.

Mostly cloudy, but the sun has made a late appearance. Temp maxed at 9.4°C Temp: 8.3°C - Hum: 79% - Dew: 4.9°C - Bar: 1009.65hPa - Wind: WNW @ 6mph.

What about showers your way?

No showers here at all, very surprised.

Very windy again, 42mph this morning. Missed the heavy showers here, just the odd sprinkle. Temp: 9.6°C - Hum: 76% - Dew: 5.5°C - Rain: 9.2mm - Bar: 990.38hPa - Wind: WSW ~ W @ 17mph.

The most thundery time, here, that I can remember in recent times, was December 2013 and January 2014. It was showers following on from the constant flow of low pressure systems. I remember having 5 or 6 consecutive days of thunder in January. I have found that the Winter months have given more chances of thunder than the Summer (apart from last year)

Ended up with 21.6mm for today, not too bad!

I noticed some intense downpours showing up on the hi-res models last night, but didn't expect anything to materialise. It has been looking ominous all day, akin to a plume destabilizing in the Summer. A nice treat indeed!

Thunder & lightning!

Huge flash of lightning and deep rumble to my South! Woo!

A proper downpour just a moment ago. Still moderate to heavy now. 16.6mm so far..

It has reminded me of a thundery plume today - some nice clouds rolling in, showing some minor instability. Speaking of which, one or three sferics showing up.. Just like a thundery plume, I expect it to slide East or West of me lol

Wet early, not too bad now, but windy. Temp: 11.7°C - Hum: 84% - Dew: 9.1°C - Rain: 12.6mm - Bar: 993.06hPa - Wind: S @ 12mph, gusting to 30mph.

It was almost the perfect day for solar recording, since I relocated it to a better position, but cloud rolled in just now, and spoiled it. 8hrs of sunshine recorded though.

Windy during the early hours here, gusting to 39mph. Still windy today, but it was blue skies from the word go. It's a bit more milky now, though. Great drying weather for washing though, with the lower humidity. Temp: 11.2°C - Hum: 51% - Dew: 1.4°C - Bar: 1013.38hPa - Wind: W @ 12mph.

I had to pop in to the shed to do some work, just as that trough arrived. It hammered down for about 10 minutes, and got really gusty. It was quite cosy! 51mph at Portland, not particularly windy here,yet..

The pond has a fresh dumping of spawn again. I moved the last lot to the smaller pond, in amongst some weed, and so the Koi do not munch on it. I'm really surprised by the amount this year, there will be tiny frogs hoping about everywhere in the Summer. Last year, quite a few managed to find their way down to the back door, and littered the porch floor. It's lucky that my cat ignores them!
