  1. Twitter report; major damage to industrial buildings being reported in nw leics coalville and loughborough by suspected tornado and flooding.
  2. I don't want replies of 'keep the faith' or anything, but i just don't see it happening in the far south. I think the action will be north of an imaginary line from around Cheshire to Cambridgeshire. The MO wouldn't leave it this long, i think the beeb and MO have called this one right.
  3. Large raindrops have started falling here, didn't expect that.
  4. Never heard of it being on MW. I have two modern radios and MW doesn't exist, it's just AM and FM, and in the past, AM was what i used to pick up the sferics. Back on topic, local forecasts haven't mentioned a single thing about anything thundery. Either there's going to be a big bust, or it's going to be down to the wire.
  5. lol I don't know about volume, but i think you need to set it to an AM channel. I bought myself a handheld detector a few years back, handy bit of kit! It has a visual display as well as an audible setting.
  6. I can't see classic storms here, but elevated lightning, yes. If you have to be back by midnight, it'll be too early to see anything i would have thought. Need to get up on creech hill carpark, on top of the Purbeck hills. Best viewpoint of anywhere.
  7. The models have a 'mare during plume set-ups, so lots of variations on models runs, at this point i wouldn't worry too much if they're not showing what you want. It's likely to go down to last runs to get a decent idea, it could turn out to be a classic.
  8. Well i'm in a great spot for views here, so i will report anything asap when i'm about. I don't have to get up work for Thurs/Fri - so it's the pub for me, and then whatever else heppens after that.
  9. Disastrous forecasting by BBC national and local forecasts again. Today was supposed to be grey, damp and drizzly. Instead, we went from warm sunshine and temps around 20c to a torrential downpour.
  10. I see Notts, Derbys, Lincs, S and W Yorks areas being the favoured spots for actual storms. But you cannot rule out a rumble or two in areas where the rain is heaviest.
  11. No, but you only have to look at various model outputs to see that this will be a problem.
  12. I'm already here, but i think it'll be a wasted journey for anyone else to head this way. Plume engagement just arrives too late, so it's likely to be no different to last Thursday's thundery rain event. One flash of lightning and a 140mm/h rainfall rate for a time.
  13. Cloud cover has ruined it for the most part. Likely to be a thundery rain event .. again.
  14. The best places were always going to be slightly further north. But there's also a risk of scattered storms in other places, and elevated lightning early on for areas further south and west. The risk of 'something' for some people is the highest it has been for quite some time.
  15. I'm only expecting elevated lightning, if anything at all here. But that would be nice all the same.
  16. Definitely a decent risk now, especially across the east midlands, running up to parts of yorkshire on Thursday, severe storms possible with a tornado formation risk too.
  17. MetO warnings out. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/
  18. Good work! I used to use weather display myself, but fancied a change and so i moved to Cumulus. I'll bookmark your link though, i find it handy to have info from independent stations in the south west.
