  1. I haven't had a thunder storm here since 2005. It is frustrating, but part of the reason that it seems to be the east that get it, is just purely down to being closer to the continent, that's also a reason for a lot of other types of weather too. I'm sure there's people int he east as well though, that have not seen much storm activity. Storms are sparse in nature, it's not like a weather system that covers three countries at a time. It's just unfortunate, things will probably change again at some point though.
  2. Storms could pop up in many places on Thursday, but the bias is towards the east for something better.
  3. Countryfile forecast was anything but spectacular for storms. I don't think it'll be quite as widespread as some people would like unfortunately. That goes for me too. I must have smashed a mirror shortly after my last storm, because it's been 7 years almost to the day.
  4. The BBC/Met O need to keep their traps shut when doing forecasts on Friday evenings about the following weeks weather. JH was bigging up on how it would be good for a few days, and locally it was going to be warm, with plenty of sunshine here. Now it's going to be mostly cloudy, and wet on Tuesday.
  5. I've seen it quite a few times, but it's normally gone within one run. This has been showing a lot now, but i can see this being pushed further east. Fingers crossed though, makes lovely eye candy.
  6. Remember the fraudster Jonathan Powell of Positive Weather Solutions? He's back! http://www.vantageweatherservices.co.uk/index.html
  7. Had one flash of lightning and a rumble of thunder around midnight. The rain was crazy though! An inch fell in a few hours, 15mm in 1 hour.
  8. An amber warning has been issued for a small part of the north west, heavy rain and strong winds.
  9. The stuff coming up from the channel doesn't seem to be holding it's intensity again, although i'm sure it'll clip Kent, i suspect the fun & games may start to initiate across Essex, Cambs, Beds, Lincs as the cold front engages with the plume.
  10. 13.4°C and a 12.1°C depoint with light rain at the moment. You could always check my webcam out from my station link below.
  11. It was insane here from midnight until 1:30am. I had one flash of lightning and a rumble, but the persistency of the torrential rain was crazy! I had leaks everywhere in my porch, i had bowls out collecting water, roads were like rivers! 25mm fell in around two and half hours, 15mm of that fell in one hour .. and it's started raining again. lol
  12. Had some large convective drops of rain here just now, the sky looked very rippled. It's what i would associate some good action with.
  13. I'm pretty sure that'll change. I'm still progged to get some heavy rain around 1 or 2am, so it'll develop more later.
  14. There's lots to play for, not just tonight. The plume doesn't fully engage until tomorrow .. somewhere around the midlands.
  15. Yeah could be! There's a micro-climate here in the Isle of Purbeck without a doubt. Looking forward to later though, if it's going to be wet, it may as well do it properly.
  16. I'm struggling to work out why that is? Independant stations around your area are showing humidity around the 55% mark with a dew point of around 8°C or 9°C, that to me isn't humid or close. It's been dropping here and getting fresher.
  17. Only an 8.6°C dew point here. It got fresher over the last few hours.
  18. Thunder or no thunder, i like torrential rains in this setup. Warm air pushing ahead of the low can really create some intense rainfall, and with PVA at vort-max, should be quite interesting.
  19. Sunny here, but some mid-level cloud, and even some cumulus popping up towards the north east of me. I should be in the thick of some action later, and i have no work tomorrow, so i will be up until at least 5am.
