  1. Quite agree, i definitely wouldn't say light winds. Ok, not as pokey as Northern parts, but gales will develop in the channel.
  2. Charts with blue like that are deceiving, don't get too excited.
  3. That's because the overlay comes straight from that lightning detection software.
  4. Not according to this one , and i treat this as one of the most accurate. Not a single sferic since the early hours.
  5. I can see the darkness over your way, my webcam points in that direction. Really nice bronze colours in the cloud formations too.
  6. Interestingly, there's not been any electrical activity since the early hours of this morning.
  7. I think i'm in the only dry spot of Dorset right now. It's passing me by about quarter of a mile to my West.
  8. I think the radar needs calibrating or something. According to the postcode zoom for my area, i'm under a red to white blob, had a couple of drops that lasted less than 15 seconds, and the sun is out. Doesn't seem right to me!
  9. To be brutally honest, i think a few of you are getting a bit carried away with the bulk moving up from the channel. An NVA lobe is progged around Sussex/Kent, this is likely to bring down the rainfall rates, most probably the heaviest right on the coast of Kent and up in to East Anglia. Not saying there won't be some heavier bursts about, but otherwise, the MO would have an advisory out on this by now.
  10. Fax shows the trough around the South West tomorrow: NAE not far out from the fax: Looking forward to seeing what develops tomorrow.
  11. MO have a watch out for parts of Devon/Dorset and the IOW for Friday. The latest NAE backs that up quite nicely. Just have to wait and see i gues?!
  12. Dorset/IOW is looking pretty funky tomorrow. Probably more chance of something tomorrow than today.
  13. That cell passed right over me. Just heavy rain .. slight inflow, but nothing remotely tornadic about it.
  14. Had a bit of a deluge here over the last hour. Bumped the total up nicely.
  15. 23.2mm in the last 24hrs here. Wareham quay (River Frome) was flooded on the high tide this morning.
  16. Not surprising that area is under a warning, after all the rain they've had. And with the PVA at vortmax over the same area, it shows a lot more heavy rain to come, and likely in my region too.
  17. Yeah, it lashed it down here just a moment ago .. in the space of 45 minutes, i've gone from 4.6mm to 12mm. All very welcome though, it's been an exceptionally dry October for these parts.
  18. There's been thunder & lightning and some good downpours here. Looks as though some more is pushing up from the channel.
  19. Yeah definitely! That's also what was is needed for an indian summer too.
  20. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/oct/01/england-wales-temperature-records-october?newsfeed=true
  21. There's CAPE values between 100 and 300 j/KG with neutral lift. That's more than enough to give a few rumbles during showers. And not to mention, it's not always about the CAPE in situations like this. I'm not saying there will be t-storms widely across the SW. But there's definitely a good enough chance to catch a few rumbles.
  22. Yes, a trough is developing. The showers and longer spells of rain will push in to the South West over night, so tomorrow some people could see some cracking downpours.
  23. I have a friend going up to Blackpool today .. i remember when i was there in around 1994/95 and there was conditions like these across the UK. The waves were coming over the seafront and engulfing the tram i was sat in. Quite an amazing spectacle that day!
