  1. Just seen the Beeb forecast for East Anglia - not good. And I mean that in as in not good if you were expecting anything "interesting". Still, it's the Beeb....
  2. Second lightning flash? Wow, one more than me then I'm definitely renting a wind turbine in the N Sea, seems the only place which is guaranteed a decent storm at this latitude.
  3. Second round? Haven't even had a first round yet. Honestly, I really do despair of ever hearing thunder more than once every 20 minutes. Beyond pathetic.
  4. If I was perched on a wind turbine off Great Yarmouth, yes. Sadly the French have stuffed it up as usual.
  5. Pfft, 3 rumbles of thunder and one CC? You ARE joking??? Now we have to wait for all this murk to clear off, yet again.
  6. In my book 3 rumbles of thunder aren't exactly apocalyptic. Standard Norfolk fare I'm afraid....and it's off the coast anyway so only counts as audible thunder
  7. El Lateo has arrived, just seen my first anvil crawler Not uber active but nice to see something at last!
  8. I'm abandoning forum, can't see anything happening overnight, perhaps some distant lightning in the west but not worth getting up for (I am definitely not that desperate!) Maybe tomorrow, who knows? Would have loved to have seen a decent lightning display at night but alas, those are but a distant childhood memory!
  9. I'm not hopeful for East Anglia tonight, and really hoping that the capping Nick F has mentioned in his forecast for Saturday will be broken. Still, another day of summer is not to be sneezed at (unless you have galloping hay fever )
  10. My Australian Shepherd StrikeAlert is still snoring his head off on the sofa!
  11. Usually the way, the unforecasted weather is always better haha. Now, I'd just like to see one teensy little flash of lightning at night, haven't seen any for about 10yrs
  12. So how do people get lightning pics then? Obviously you don't stand around waiting for the one flash every 10 mins. I'm not too dusty at night photography but I would REALLY like to know what settings and or lenses you use on a DSLR (bar a tripod and a remote which are givens, plus bulb or long exp.)
  13. arrrgh, I do like a nice structure, trouble is that's the payoff - either structure or lightning. Boo hiss. And yes I know people can get both but they've had years of practice. I'm getting one chance probably, if I'm lucky.
  14. Cap has to break first.....and no left over rubbish from the French muck either thank you very much. What is bugging the heck out of me s that I'm dying to get a night time lightning pic but just know I'm going to waste my time fiddling about when I should be firing away - I mean, how the dickens can you practice if you never have anything to practice on?
  15. Depends on which ear I'm sleeping on - if my right ear is open to atmosphere I won't hear anything
  16. I'm retreating to my seat by the front door - the only place in full sun and out of that wretched onshore gale! Someone pass me a Pimms, ta
  17. Blimey the weather even merited a headline on Look East just now with Chris Bell - shame the charts on view showed absolutely nothing in Norfolk (well, that's true - there IS nothing in Norfolk)
  18. Blowing an absolute hooley here, very bright clear skies too - some clouds in the west trying to make a go of it but they're just getting ripped to pieces by this strong E'ly. Two hours on the tractor though, very pleasant and not at all humid
  19. Very strong onshore E'ly here, makes everything way more bearable but can fool people into thinking they won't get sunburnt. Oh yes you will.....I see you all the time in Tesco, little fat red tourists all shiny and uncomfortable
  20. You'll probably have to settle for looking at other people's pictures whilst booking a holiday to somewhere that actually has an outside possibility of a chance of a storm
