  1. I must be watching the wrong one - haven't seen anything on there LOL!
  2. Desperate to get one decent pic - any tips for settings with a Canon 60D + 10-22mm please? I did some test shots last month (no lightning) but obviously not going to be the same. Not much in the way of "interesting" backgrounds round here either!
  3. It's a bit much, the north getting another dose of storms All I want is a teensy weensy drop of rain, getting fed up with mowing the Mojave Desert...
  4. Very hazy skies now and pretty breezy, quite chilly compared to a couple of hours ago. I'm erring on the side of hmmm maybe a few flashes to the west later on because every time I rig up the camera etc nowt happens......and half the time I can't remember the settings but at least I get to practice in the dark
  5. Great to see this again, laid back just doesn't do the commentator justice!!
  6. At least we have a nice big stick to beat the north with the next time they complain about the south getting all the storms
  7. And this time there isn't the crudfest - the sun didn't make an appearance until after 3pm. As I've had one visible flash of lightning this year I mustn't be greedy!
  8. Mid-Norfolk (even though the county is flat with big skies anyway) Crownthorpe Road (B1135 just outside Wymondham), entrance to Whitehall Farm at the top of the hill. Good hard standing and plenty of room with 360 degree views, especially to the SW.
  9. Funny how us in Norfolk don't go into "OMG!!" mode when we get an absolute doozy of a storm! Initially only a couple of rumbles when it passed to my north, but within 30 mins it grew horns in a big way - I actually was in the van intending just to get some even cloudscapes so no tripod, remote blah blah as I really wasn't expecting it to develop as it did. I paused briefly on the way to Mattishall, superb IC and CGs, plus some large hail for a time, possible rotation but didn't get it on video as I was interrupted by the hail shaft! Stopped again at a good view point and just watched the clouds being lit up every few seconds, then went down the A47 towards Norwich still with this incredible light show as it got dark. Came back towards Wymondham via Marlingford (wind damage observed - branches and tree debris on the road for about half a mile) and stopped off again as I thought the tail ender would still be very active as it had been really chucking out CGs previously. However it all died off, apart from lightning still visible out towards the coast about 40 miles away. All in all the best storm for a decade!

  11. Beautifully crisp and clear autumn morning here, only one hefty shower yesterday and definitely no thundery activity within 40 miles, my Aussie Shepherd storm detector was completely unbothered!
  12. Bright and breezy in Norfolk, the advantages of living in the far east eh?
  13. Quite a lot of thunder about in the south apparently, no one heard any? Here it's just bight and breezy
  14. Sorry, was too busy enjoying it plus Interweb was AWOL Nothing uber scary but lasted for almost 2hrs - one of my Aussie shepherds was looking at the sky and getting fidgety at 4pm ish, so he was right Incredibly slow moving as well, just the right amount of rain, nothing torrential, constant thunder for most of the time, mostly CCs but the odd CG now and again
  15. WEll over an hour's worth of thunder, mostly CC lightning but getting more visible now. Really slow moving though, it's obviously been stuck on the M11
  16. well over an hour's worth of almost constant thunder and pink lightning, shame this wasn't at night. Still the best storm here for about a hundred years :D
  17. The sun has made a brave and gallant effort, warming up nicely now. Time to lay some more paving
  18. Wish I had your faith! I do think west of the region has more chance, coastal areas will have to put up with the murk I fear.
  19. Really? Goodness me! Mind you I doubt if Norfolk could even manage that these days lol!
  20. Morning all, can confirm yet another fogfest here, don't think anything will limp over the Suffolk border, this fog looks like a permanent fixture for most of the day. A little drizzle would have been welcome....
