  1. Back to default Norfolk summer again - grey and drizzly Freezing cold at a dog show on Sat nr Ely requiring over trousers, wellies, fleece and waterproof coat, warm and sunny at same venue on Sunday! We haven't even enjoyed much of the thundery activity either apart from the rain - 84mm for June already. So looking forward to Ibiza in September!
  2. Another four rumbles of thunder this week, I am being spoilt! However my June rainfall total is getting silly - 84mm.
  3. Hold the front page - distant rumble of thunder from a small cell close to Fakenham. That makes 2 rumbles of thunder this year!!!
  4. Hold the front page - distant rumble of thunder from a small cell close to Fakenham. That makes 2 rumbles of thunder this year!!!
  5. Indeed, 15mm recorded here, flood defences into front barns overtopped! Brings the June total to 52mm already
  6. Not seen or heard anything apart from drizzly rain on the conservatory roof all evening. And my canine StrikeAlert says nothing within about 40 miles as he's currently snoring on the sofa. This constant dull overcast set up is a ruddy pain in the proverbial, the sun makes a brief appearance at 5pm and that's it.
  7. Definitely feel your pain despite everyone saying Norfolk has had a great start to the season - no, it hasn't. Dreadful doesn't describe it - one distant rumble of thunder in April sometime nothing since. Last year was not too bad with 2 decent night storms and one or two popcorn events here and there but overall dire, not just for storms but general weather - mostly dull and grey with a N'ly breeze for much of May and the beginning of June. At the moment we have light drizzle with any action far to the south in Essex. I haven't bothered taking my camera with me for months!
  8. Norfolk is such a depressing place to live in the summer. Even worse than winter! One distant rumble of thunder back in April (I think), and not a single convective cloud formation for months and months
  9. Blimey I'm only t'other side of Dereham and it's just dull and grey here!
  10. Had about an hour of semi-convective drizzle, so should be grateful for this meagre crumb.....
  11. Bright but overcast and rather muggy. Tbh haven't seen a proper convective shower at all this year!
  12. Bright but overcast and muggy, quite frankly at this time of year I much prefer that to a cooler Atlantic flow with sunshine and showers!
  13. Not so much as a distant rumble here but 32mm rain has bumped my May total to 38mm.
  14. My rainfall total for May is now 38mm instead of 6mm, so that's a bit interesting. In the middle of a gutter and drain unblocking session. Sheep look a tad miserable but the dogs aren't bothered, they're soaked after a walk down to the river!
  15. Nothing here, just wet and windy. any action has as usual headed away from Norfolk.
  16. All activity now pretty much behind what is surely just a mass of rain now, unless something kicks it into gear over land.
  17. Funny how the N Sea can sustain storms over the N Sea but if they move in any direction other than north.......*sound of deflating balloon*
  18. What was a mass of white is slowly and inevitably turning orange and red. Apart from the newly developing area to the NE *sigh*
  19. Slowly edging across the N Sea but very little activity compared with the re-invigorated area just off the Dutch coast.
  20. Both the GY ones are offline unfortunately! Can't find a live feed for Lowestoft either.
  21. Yes I do (she says, resurfacing after hibernation for 6 months!) I seem to remember it was thundery in the south - it moved northward and then suddenly did a U turn in the N Sea and came back over Norfolk, I have a picture somewhere of me standing in one of our fields gazing up at some potential rotation!
  22. Six hours of insane weather in Holland on Sunday night (30th), south of Utrecht. After two very hot days and a brief storm on Sunday morning, late evening saw streaming AcAs moving in around 9pm; by 9.30pm the first flashes appeared on the horizon and after that if all went a bit mad to be honest! Marble sized hail for over half an hour, torrential rain on and off for the whole night, SLWs which had the trees bent double, the awning collapsed, incredible lightning in every direction - you couldn't hear the thunder (well we couldn't, being in a caravan with rocks bouncing off the roof and sides!) However one very close strike, more like an explosion really, left an orange glow in the sky so assume something somewhere was on fire! Our hosts at the Dogcenter said it was the worst storm they'd ever had, and I can only thank them for that - an incredible finish to a lovely weekend! No idea how much rain fell but would guess well over 3in, however the Dutch manage water so well that all the roads were completely devoid of standing water in the morning on the way back to Schiphol but there was considerable flooding in the surrounding fields. Several greenhouses showed evidence of hail damage and there were branches scattered along the roads in various places. Although I had my camera with me I didn't take a tripod but to be honest I'm not overly bothered!
