  1. I think damp squib is generous Nick But spotted the little (tiny? miniscule?) cell nr Ely!
  2. I don't think storms were ever really likely for the east. However rain would be good; at the moment there is a very VERY fine drizzle, more like fog really!
  3. I might get a mm or so, there's a small area of light rain nr Norwich which seems to be moving west.......yay....
  4. Heavens. there's a finger of light drizzle starting to extend NE towards Norfolk/Suffolk. I can barely contain my excitement. And light rain to the east of Norwich too!
  5. I must say that the drizzle is a bit later than I expected. Still, nice and grey outside - gorgeous! *sarcastic mode off"
  6. Gosh, this grey murk is absolutely terrifying. Rain rate of 00.00mm/hr, although I see there's a scary area of drizzle near Yarmouth. Must have produced a heck of a show.
  7. It's definitely liking the south - looking forward to about 30 mins moderate rain tomorrow morning to freshen up the garden (I cut what's left of my grass this afternoon) but NOT looking forward to a drop in temps!
  8. I was lucky enough to see a storm near Bordeaux from 36,000 feet early Wed morning (not keen on the turbulence though even if we were a decent distance away!) Seeing lightning flaring in every direction every second and being able to see the cloud structure was really something Goodness knows what the Amsterdam storm is like then!
  9. Ain't that typical? SW of Uden is where I was at the end of August!
  10. Came back from Ibiza yesterday and liking this couple of days of extra warmth! As for potential rain - let's wait and see.........
  11. Boring, grey, dull, E'ly gale. So depressing. However the netweather forecast of 0% chance for Norwich was spot on compared with the BBC/Met forecast.
  12. Depressing isn't it? All I can see are the striations on the southern flank of whatever is over S Lincs at the moment, apparently it's a real doozy. Default East Anglian weather of dull overcast skies and an E'ly gale has returned.
  13. Gorgeous morning, think it rained for about 2 mins around 1am last night? Anyway still no significant rain in August which is very unusual!
  14. Supercell? Weekly? HAHAHAHA! It's barely raining here, some strange flash out to the east (nothing on radar). Probably a Typhoon practising over the N Sea.....
  15. Can't say this year has delivered here (what happened in July? Did I miss something?) Even Holland didn't come through with anything - boo hiss! I think the chances of a repeat of 17th/18th July 2015 are remote but I would love to be able to sit under another train and get some more shots like this.....
  16. Pano of the thing about an hour ago - spot the bit which passed over Norfolk.....and the other three illustrate perfectly how something can look good and then dissolve into drizzle 10 miles later. I think perhaps one distant rumble of thunder for each one
  17. More like a divergence - complete miss (you really couldn't make it up, I watched it happen)
  18. Oh I saw it coming, trust me, the anvil was huge radar said direct hit right up to barely 10 miles out. However it literally split as it approached, you could see it happening. Now why that happened I have no idea, but it's not unusual for storms (big or small) to suddenly divert north or south of here. Must be some sort of local topography (which in a relatively flat county is hard to conceive!)
  19. It always does - no idea why unless the boulder clay plateau has some sort of influence, although I was lead to believe it was an enhancer. Normal for Norfolk so no change there. Still August and September to go........and be disappointed yet again.
