  1. The title of this thread reminds me of a forum on the BBC web site many years ago
  2. Snow Depth spreadsheets are on standby, forum members ready On my whistle for a possible snow date do we Phone a model thread member Go 50 50 (think that's the met office) Ask the audience You have thirty seconds On a weather related note it's not that warm at 5.4c and falling and very little wind
  3. If anyone wants a very good read about the weather patterns going forwards here's a link to John Holmes excellent post http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/76236-in-depth-model-discussion-and-summaries/?p=2890645
  4. Oh dear I just went in the MAD thread and I soon came out as when the profesionals give their views and it's not what people want to hear the amount of clutching straws is amazing. Did anyone notice the Met Office forecast for energy supplies ect which was issued around the start of the new year as that didn't give much hope for a long cold spell and I think in fact it had temperatures above average for the rest of the winter. Hopefully we may see some white stuff before the start of Spring, however I must admit that to me this seems to be a normal winter and it may go down in history for the number of storms/rain rather than snowy periods.
  5. I haven't gone into the model thread and just listening to thoughts here, therefore based on the 50% idea of cold weather and snow I have taken the decison to switch off one of the ZX81 and the mice in the wheel are very happy
  6. I always thought it was glue and that seems to stick in one place for a long time. I have started to power up the two ZX81's ready for the snow depth cup, that's done it
  7. Two great minds think alike or one doesn't look far enough back up thread so maybe only one great mind
  8. This maybe from the same source, however gives a little info. http://badc.nerc.ac.uk/view/badc.nerc.ac.uk__ATOM__dataent_nimrod
  9. interesting how the band died down up here but then exploded down south, this new storm shield off ebay from some guy in the TOD area (think his name was Pete) really works
  10. Knocking on the door of Mk soon and some red in that lot on the Netweather radar which will probably go north of here.
  11. Sorry to hear the news, animals do become part of the family and missing her is understandable.
  12. Yes was very nice, they still had the decorations up in the Xscape building, however when we went across to the shopping centre there was not a trace of a decoration and even the display had gone. Looking at the window I think it must be raining or blowing in the wind as there are drops on the window.
  13. I notice that the news channels have latched onto the word PV which is used so frequently in the Model thread, must say it looks rather cold over there and I really don't think our part of the world would be able to cope with those temperatures. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25609411 Minus five in the MK Snowzone was bad enough this afternoon and really bought home the memories of last year when we had cold days and nights.
  14. I would lock the doors and stay in as the M family are soon to depart for MK and the snow zone for younger ones party. Promise not to measure the snow in there and pretend its here in three weeks time
  15. My goodness that frost which is made of ice and relates to winter, your next report will say it's snowing
  16. It has been raining most of the day here and I notice that that up stream the River Ouse now has a flood alert back on due to more rain tonight and tomorrow. WarningView on MapFlood status last changed: Sat, 04 Jan 2014 13:42:00 GMTNewport Pagnell River levels are reacting to today's rainfall after falling on already saturated ground. More rain is forecast for tomorrow evening. We will monitor and this flood warning as appropriate
  17. Suppose I could always have an attempt at selling it to some forum in the USA or Canada as they seem to have a little bit of snow over there at the moment. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25587336 That last pictures could be us in a few weeks going to Wickes for snow shovels and salt
