  1. Beware AS as any tidal surge could make a cliff also appear in your garden, then you would need a Summer Holiday. Ps Very dark here and the rain has stopped
  2. I seem to remember that Rushden does very well in snowy weather so we may have to check any application to join the snow depth thread although at the moment I don't think we have anything to worry about On a weather note I have a temperature of 2.3c and it's too dark to see if anything wintry could be falling from the sky, I may just have to go and look in the freezer to remember what ice looks like.
  3. Snow depth patrol is out and about like tv licence detector vans, wait for the knock at the door, well that's if the snow is not too deep
  4. Jax, I must admit that I find that very strange thing to do and considering how this thread works, and I seem to think this happen late last year and caused a lot of upset. Hopefully we are not going down the model thread route!!!
  5. Our council gritting forecast for this evening, not sure about the clear periods as it's been raining all evening A clear evening, allowing road surface temperatures to begin to fall, however they are currently expected to remain above freezing. Further outbreaks of patchy rain will begin to push in from the southeast from midnight and continue into Thursday morning. There is a risk of seeing a little sleet on Thursday morning.
  6. Just read this on the Met Office page for the East of England, doesn't look warm over the weekend after the rain on Friday Outlook for Friday to Sunday:A bright, frosty start on Friday, but becoming cloudy, wet and windy later. Sunny spells and scattered blustery showers on Saturday and Sunday, occasionally of sleet. Feeling cold.
  7. Netweather radar is now showing rain/snow mix to the north of London, still steady rain here
  8. Thanks CK, maybe would have a forum outing to one of your clients and sit in their freezer and talk about how the snow depth cup could have worked out. If the bank manager is so good with over draughts, maybe he could slip one on from the east for a week Sorry on a weather related note, not raining and about 5.3c here.
  9. Maybe I should stop doing the lottery and then I will probably win. If setting up the snow depth cup changes the weather I think Tom we should call Dragons Den as we have a great business model, better than the GFS model
  10. Hi Loo, I'm Chris who helped to set up the Snow Depth spreadsheets and have now gone into hiding as I fear for my personal safety from that well know group call the MOD thread members. I now have a best friend called Julian Assange who is sharing the same room with me, he tells me that he has a load of information on the GFS model which he will release shortly. I have told him not to bother as we already know it doesn't work and has been written by people who are buried under five foot snow drifts and it's always wrong
  11. The way things are going is spot on with the METS contingency planning forecast they issued at the start of the year. This must have been the worst news the energy companies could have received as at around this time last year we had the heating on until the end of March. On the radio this morning there were many reports of ice problems in Hertfordshire with roads being closed, guess this was either due to precipitation fallig after they salted or run off from fields which washed the salt away.
  12. Morning AS Well I sent the cat out to see if she came back with a coating of snow, but alas she came back the same she went out. Just had a look at the radar and everything seems to be fading when it moves across from the west country. Temperature is reading 2.4c with a dew point of -1.7c so if anything did get here there might be a bit of white stuff.
  13. I would disagree as this is a weather forum and forecasts change all the time and the gfs could be correctp Ps on the tablet and not sure why the above was underlined
  14. 4.1c here and has gone down 0.9c in the last hour. I'm not sure if I can trust the Netweather radar at the moment as every so often the update is blank, anyone else having the same problem.
  15. Looks like a heavier area of rain in that shower which came over you caused that
  16. Latest forecast has come through, does he post in the MOD thread or could be doing Countryfile http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-25901814
  17. Latest from our council gritters is There is an increasing risk of showers turning to sleet or wet snow this evening. Heaviest showers expected between 3am and 5am further isolated showers follow this, these light and turning back to rain. Ps Seems to be evaporative cooling involved for the snow. Think we will need to be up early if I want to see any white stuff.
  18. Yes since that squall line went through my temperature has fallen 1c, the next line of showers which Yamkin mentioned above is still heading this way and according to the radar looks to be holding together. The showers over Ireland are showing as sleet. I have stopped looking in there and have been concentrating on the wonderful updates from our JP and the Met Office web site.
  19. Yes I have just been checking the spreadsheets and the ftp loading to the web site, so fingers crossed
  20. Drat other people have already used that joke on their twitter feed On a weather related matter it's reading 5.0c here and raining hard.
  21. Jason, send them a note back saying they should pass it over to Special Branch
  22. When ever I see the MOD word I always think of the Ministry of Defence, suppose they are very similar to the MOD thread in terms of war and peace
