  1. Snow in Kilmaurs too this morning. A very slight dusting at 7am this morning then another brief fall not long ago.
  2. Maybe I have picked up what has been said in there wrong in that case?
  3. In the model output it seems some sort of cold spell is on the way. Is this some sort of freeze? Or will it be like now and only confined to higher ground? Still heavy rain here outside.
  4. I think I need to block this thread on my computer through jealousy of everyone who has been getting plastered while I am getting heavy rain! Lovely photos guys. I assume there are still no signs of some Greenland blocking any time soon?
  5. I'm in Kilmaurs. No snow at all. Horrible. I wish I had stayed in Strathblane. They are getting loads of it.
  6. Wow!. Heavy rain here in East Ayrshire. As has been already said on here, Cumnock is the place to be in East Ayrshire for snow or the Fenwick Moors.
  7. Lovely pictures there guys. Jealous. Nothing here.
  8. Nothing in East Ayrshire. No showers showing to be approaching on the horizon. Disappointing. It looks like hit and miss today again.
  9. Very heavy snow here and hailstones in the mix. Hailstones settled but snow is not so it must be just sleet.
  10. Good to see the rain will have cleared through for the bells and all the party-goers. It was looking like it would be wet just a few days ago. Happy New Year to everyone and all the best for 2015. Here is to a decent cold spell before the end of the winter where we all get to join in the fun.
  11. Frost melted quite a bit today but did not completely melt. Frost increasing quickly now since dusk but I do not expect it to be anywhere near as cold as last night. This morning it looked like it had snowed during the night. Fingers crossed those stratospheric warmings impact on us further down the line! The models are really teasing us at the moment.
  12. How long is this mild "blip" expected to last?
  13. Frost and ice melting fast here. Those mild southwest winds must be making their way in already, but I guess that is no surprise since it warming up to the west of my location already - Stornoway, for example
  14. Same as grafter for me. No snow fell here. Just a hard frost on the grass and cars and pavements etc. which hasn't yet melted. Bright blue skies today and I believe it is expected to remain so until the middle of next week when it is expected to become unsettled and milder once again, so overall a very disappointing December for snow in my location.
  15. There's been hailstones and sleet here this morning. It's to be colder at the weekend, is it not, so I'd imagine it won't be going anywhere quickly unless there are slight changes in the air temperature. First dry Xmas day yesterday for I don't know how many years. The weather this winter has been pretty dismal - wet and windy.
  16. Merry Xmas everyone. Hope Santa is good to you all.
  17. And no wonder the models are predicting all this. For over a week now, they have been showing some very strong warming from 1hPa down to 10hPa, and for the last 3 or 4 days, it has been showing this warming moving down to 30hPa (just where we want to see it). And the warming at 30hPa has been showing consistently now for more than 4 days so I really hope this moves toward the reliable timeframe. [Hope I haven't cursed the stratosphere by pointing that out....]
  18. I have to say that, thus far, this winter is turning out to be rather disappointing despite the potential in the stratosphere with key ingredients favourable for HLB. It is disappointing in terms of snow fall and deep cold - snow fall is dependent on where you live and the stratosphere not living up to our expectations in terms of some decent warming moving down the stratosphere or from the bottom up in terms of Wave 2 activity. Agree with the comments already made about the mild junk - mild in terms of temperatures not cold enough to produce a decent fall of snow and dump of the white stuff.
  19. Raining ever so slightly here. Very smurry-like rain. Disappointed it is not snowing despite the hard frost from last night.
  20. Heavy sleet now. Cold air must be coming back quicker than we thought.
  21. Where is the freezing level this morning? I assume it is about 100/200m.
  22. There has been no snow where I am. Just heavy rain and strong winds.
  23. Don't rub it in about the snow folks. Nothing yet where I am. Enjoy.
  24. Can someone post links to the charts to look at - fax, temperature, radar, etc?
