  1. Wind just picked up here again in SE Thurrock, no rain yet, although my app has been going off to say its imminent. now we wait!
  2. Welcome everyone (New and Returning) If you don't have it already, please can you pop your location in your Profile please? Tis handy to see where everyone is! Pretty windy here already, not raining yet, but the Radar showing it won't be long. Lots of wine, Choc pudding and the camera already. Please make sure your Pets are inside and you don't take any unnecessary risks as we go through it Looking forward to reading the updates as we go on, stay safe!
  3. Don't forget folks, there's the regional threads if you want to chat and connect with people local to you! http://forum.netweather.tv/forum/142-regional-discussions/ if you have specific 'Will it blow my fence down' type questions, it's the place to go...
  4. Hello! Polite reminder that this isn't the 'Met office suck Thread! ' Please keep to topic........
  5. Be cool to keep this on topic and not a Met office bash / media bash / south vs north bash eh? Over something that hasn't actually happened yet..... The observations being posted are handy; please keep them coming! And please let's keep it friendly!
  6. You can check the gusts here .... http://www.xcweather.co.uk Already windy here
  7. Predictions are from early hours Monday, but as ever, the caveat remains that it could change. It could speed up, it could slow down.I'd recommend staying tuned to Netweather, and or NW extra (which is well worth the subscription) and signing up for the Met office email updates too.
  8. Warm and *windy* welcome to all new posters! It's set to be an interesting waiting game for the next 24-48 hours. For everyone's reference, Please could you pop your location into your profile? Also don't forget there are dedicated regional threads for you to connect with posters local to you and share weather info and updates
  9. I think we need to remember that there's a lot of time for things to develop, considering our Low only became a low a few hours ago! It's got a lot of sea to cover and air to interact with before it arrives here. I for one do think the Media getting hold of this has whipped up some fairly insane 'Sharknado' hysteria, but as the week has gone on, there does seem to be some basis for this. I think that being prepared for power outages etc probably isn't a bad idea, although for the heavy sleepers, you guys might just kip straight through it! What I think is more important is just being aware of the latest forecasts and warnings - even if you don't feel you will be affected in the slightest- look after kids, pets and anyone vulnerable, and maybe for those concerned that Kent will become Kansas, perhaps not believe all the wild speculation.....and take a little with a dash of salt!
  10. Maybe it's me, I just don't think 'wind day' has the same ring to it as 'snow day'. However, I think travel impact could be pretty strong round these parts, the QEII Bridge closes at the merest sneeze, and there's a huge amount of HGV at traffic locally with the super port. It's all perilous! I'm very very interested to see how she looks in 24 hrs time....and a bit alarmed, and a bit excited.
  11. 87 for me included witnessing my neighbours Toupe flying off, all the slate tiles showering down into the garden off the roof and and a Turtle shaped sandpit flying through the garden. We lost the whole fence on all sides and I remember the glass in the windows facing south west flexing in the wind, so we all camped in sleeping bags and duvets in the middle of the living room.Think we had a power out for about 25-48hrs?. Ironically I'm back in the same house at the moment, except there's double glazing now, and I won't be asking my Mum to read me a Noddy and Big ears story when it gets super stormy; I'll probably be out like a fool in It with the camera getting the OH to make me a stiff drink!
  12. Accidentally ate into some of the pre bought wine supply this evening. Whoops! I feel for my neighbour, he's just bought a very expensive caravan and the people next to him are having all sorts of building shenanigans with scaffolding and tarpaulin and god knows what right next to it. Also! While I'm thinking of things to stock up on - if you've got nervy Cats, might be worth using a Feliway plug in to chill them out a bit. I know it doesn't work on everyone's cats, but two of my three get quite ambient on it. Also useful for fireworks night. There is a dog equivalent but the name escapes me!
  13. So! Aside from the candles/gin/torches that might be helpful in the event of power cuts etc, what other things are we all squirrelling away just in case for Sun night? Thought it might be cool to share some ideas?
  14. I know I wheel this out every time there's potential for a Wild and Windy episode, but it's a handy way to check out the gusts near you... worth a bookmark if, like me you'll be up watching to see what unfolds... http://www.xcweather.co.uk
  15. Very heavy rain, one little hail sprinkle and just had First Flash and Rumble. yay!
  16. Ugh, yucky out there this morning! 9c and pouring Thank gawd we don't have anything outdoorsy planned... I'd be preparing the micro ark.
  17. Wind has certainly Picked up here, quite a brisk Nw'ly. Had a few splats of rain, but nothing much, and the station is reading 12.5c, so not cold, but in the wind it's a tad nippy....
  18. The rain just started here.... Just don't want this bad boy to go too far to the east.....
  19. Tbh, I'm happy if there aren't any whizz bangs until later, my daytime lightning photography leaves a lot to be desired. That said I've got to do my penance at the Gym later so it'll be just my luck it'll all kick off and I'll be treadmilljng oblivious..
