  4. Wind just blew my pilot light out on the boiler.......... lots of drizzly rain blowing about.
  5. Windy enough to wake me up- cloud speed is very fast.. Nearest observation recorded a 41mph gust at 5am. I am totally working from home today!
  6. Yep, I remember sitting in the dark and having a Noddy story read to my little brother. (He's 25 now..) and the sandpit in our garden taking flight over the neighbours fence. and the tiles raining down off the roof..... Madness!
  7. I've been spending 20 minutes poring over forecasts and models, and then walking away from my computer for a bit, and then coming back 10 minutes later... rinse and repeat....
  8. About 50 I think?... it sounds more exciting in Km tho....

  10. On the Thames estuary -near cirri ham, Essex at my folks place. Dad and I are barbecuing in a bit of a downpour, clouds moving v fast, still v humid...... Couple of rumbles would be welcome!!
  11. WIN! I knew The Sun wouldn't let me down.. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3805942/Hurricane-Katia-set-to-batter-Britain.html
  12. Just had Met Office Yellow warning email... http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/se/se_forecast_warnings.html?from=rss&sn=EC94F6CA-8280-3EEF-5B86-4D7E95C67E7F_3_SE
  13. My Kittens are actually more destructive than usual (Didn't think it would be possible) but they always act up when the air feels funny like this, the last notable time being the near miss 'Frenchie' storm. It may not have gotten that close to us, but Smaug decided to trash my clothes airer anyway.
  14. I am actually astonished The Sun haven't gotten hold of the Katia hysteria yet, usually they're all over 'deep freeze'/'heatwave'/'siberian' type stories.. ..... Cue withering 'Comedy' sensationalist headline..... I am claiming 'there she blows'..... and at least one phrase including the word 'battered'
  15. It feels very .... Tropical... Outside this morning, humidity really high, tube is uncomfortably muggy( although when isn't it). I usually spend a lot of time poring over the NHC site in September/oct making sure my Usual cancun trip isn't going to be disrupted, didn't imagine for one second I'd be looking at it for my commute to work!! - any excuse to disrupt the trains.....
  16. Also very gusty here too again.. Clear skies, but very windy. - I almost got blown off my feet in Southampton earlier today, I'm not going out to check if it's the same level!!
  17. Blown down trees on the line are delaying trains Fareham-Southampton. Raining sideways hard with the wind.
  18. Windy! Rain hasn't been so bad, but the wind woke me up a few times last night, will be interesting to see if conditions differ in Southampton. I have a feeling it'll be a sad day for brollies!
  19. Actually astonished that the met office hasn't issued a warning.... Wind had become strong &sustained....
  20. I agree it seemed to get very dark very early on today. Wind is noticeably stronger than before - not looking forward to getting the train into Southampton in the morning!
