  1. also folks, don't forget there is a chatroom available too! There are a few of us in there at the moment, but if you want to keep us all really up to the minute, then come on in, you can have it on a pop up window AND look at the radar
  2. 292 people online on this Thread! Hello you lovely lot!! Here's to a good night shining torches into the garden Wrap up, make sure your animals are inside and have an (optional) warming beverage.
  3. Patience folks! It's a coming I'm not expecting much until after dark, as has been forecast, and based on the precip taking it's time to trundle over. All good!
  4. No need for shouting. Or wailing. Or any of the above. As Aj said, please re-read what you're posting. If it's not adding anything to the discussion, causing bad feeling, or likely to inflame other people, then don't post it. It'll get removed anyway. And I'd hate for you to lose your ability to post seeing as though we've had no snow all winter. Much love. Jo
  5. Folks, let's not use this as a sounding board for slating BBC forecasters eh? There's lots more to chat about, largely the good potential for an event for us the weekend. Let's keep it civil, eh? Polite reminder over
  6. I've just noticed this too, my RainToday app has gone off, and upon checking it, there's a blob. A sizeable blob too. However, both net weather radars don't seem to have it, so unless it's the apocalypse, I think we can assume it's a little gremlin. (I could of course be entirely wrong, it happens) - given the Met O have had trouble with their site today, big pinches of salt Jo
  7. Hi Arni, Welcome to the SE/Lon Thread. Would you mind awfully popping your location into your profile please? Thanks! Jo
  8. Seems as though the MetO weather warning pages are broken. Slight ramp in traffic methinks??
  9. Coast, I feel your Pain! OH is a Teacher and when there was a small sniff of snow about three weeks ago, he told colleagues, who then told the kids, who have been expecting a snow day since. I've kept schtum this week, and then came into work this morning to discover that we have a 'Snow Plan' in place. My boss said he was surprised I wasn't more involved as I usually am the first to start hyping! Can't win!!!! Also, is anyone else getting quite gusty winds this morning? The conservatory has been rattling... not easterly facing either....
  10. Folks. Let's not get TOO doom and gloom that it's 'only' little snow, three days ago, most of us would have given our right arms for something, anything resembling a hint of what is developing. It's early days, there's still a lot to play for, so let's chin up and appreciate that finally some of us are seeing wintry weather for the first time in over a year. No sad faces on the SE forum!!!
  11. Tiny but steady flakes at Upminster station...
  12. Expectantly waiting for the tiny flurry that will come from the radar blob.....
  13. I am not sure we'll see much more that a bit of a sprinkle this neck of the woods for the next couple of days, but I am patient enough to wait to the latter part of the week, which at present, looks a little more promising. After the last couple of weeks model watching it's really good to see at least a little snipette of cold. Anyone else have husbands/boyfriends/wives/children/co-wokers sick to death of you talking about snow for the last three months?
  14. Afternoon all, beautiful winter afternoon here on the estuary, welcome to anyone I've not spoken to before, very much looking forward to the next week's watching after this week's rollercoaster! Jo
  15. Yep, we've had three-four quite intense showers at his morning and by the looks of it another one incoming -- I'm in a west facing conservatory so can see it all blowing through. Today's garden calamity is the barbecue being blown over, in spite of it being behind a sheltered fence in a pretty small garden. Don't know about anyone else but our bin collection today was chaos. All the empty bins like skittles!
  16. So Anyhow, back to the wind, I don't have lights flickering, but my TV has lost signal. Had a brief lull for about 10 minutes where it was just a bit gusty, but now it's really picked up again, and I can hear the carefully arranged bins toppling over. Broken fence is inside so it doesn't blow anywhere and cause damage.
  17. It's cool, it needed re-doing anyway -might kickstart the old man into a trip to B&Q!
  18. Yep, I'm feeling it here in Stanford-leHope! We just lost half a fence panel.
  19. Yep, I'm still at my Folks' in south essex, and it certainly sounds like the sustained wind is stronger than yesterday, not sure about the gusts. Dad and I went to retrieve the bins earlier on (we are recycling collection here tomorrow to) and I'm glad we did, because there are recycling boxes cartwheeling down our Cul-De Sac!
  20. Think the squall just passing over here now, went dark, loads of hail, and now the wind is gusting hard enough to move the glass panels in the conservatory. Hail has passed on and now back to sheets of rain. Just called my old man at work in Southend and he said it hasn't started to even rain there yet....
  21. Well it's beginning to howl here on the Estuary, the room I'm in is west facing and the rain plus gusts have kept me awake for about 30 minutes. Gusts are definitely becoming stronger, I can hear the window frames having a bit of a creak!
  22. Ah the Daily Mail.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2074433/UK-weather-forecast-Snow-heavy-rain-hit-large-parts-Britain.html AND even better, the Express.... http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/290470/It-s-a-white-Christmas- What made me giggle was even the. BBC news reader couldn't contain his mirth when he read out their headlines today. 'ooh, well they seem confident!' - Sarcasm much?! I think their Headline on the early edition is 'White Christmas' followed by talk of 'killer ice' and other strongly worded, semi unfounded exclamations. Genius.
