Just to add to this - if you have Pets that are the outdoors type make sure they're toasty warm or inside with enough food, warm bedding, unfrozen water etc - my neighbours always seem to lock their cat out when it snows every year!

I'd dabble in the Midlands and EA... but then I can never decide on anything..... Folks, nobody will get in trouble for posting in the *wrong* place. Check a couple of regional threads if you feel 'twixt. I do...

South East & East Anglia Regional Discussion - January 12th 2013>

I think the most reliable data we're going to get at this late stage is the stuff that starts falling from the sky in the next 48 hours. I'd also like to add - if you don't see snow, and others do over the next few days, please try and be gracefully miffed. No snippyness would be lovely, even if you are quietly dying inside- manners cost nothing -

Let's not freakout just yet folks, the models have all done most peculiar flip floppy things this week - remember the weather dictates them, not the other way around! I think it's close enough to cease with the watching, and get the radar fired up, and also this http://uksnowmap.com which is very handy. I do understand that it will be disappointing if we don't have three feet of snow come Monday, but I think the cold prospects are far far better than they've been for a really, really long time - I don't think last Feb even had this kind of potential. Let's not be too defeatist two days before the progged event - Today is the first real day of cold with the Easterly wind only *just* really starting to bite. Keep the faith, and let's stay connected and supportive of each other, rather than bickering over giant graphical probability charts. -

Nowt here on the Estuary.... Just a cold cold breeze. It is a little darker out to the West, but cloud doesn't look thick enough to produce.... the station is reading 5.6c, so I need a bit of a drop in temp first. Windchill is deceptive! It feels a lot colder. -

Speaking of supplies - Those in the Thurrock area, I've got it on reasonably good authority that Camping and General on Canvey Island have a good selection of snow bits and pieces to stock up on, sledges, snow shoes, good gloves..... -

I think that's a pretty good assessment! Certainly what I'm thinking, and similar to the NW forecast, and the Beeb 6pm news. Ongar usually does well for snow too! -

I *think* the consensus in the Model thread is not about snow for the next few days - that looks pretty much a sure thing (well, as good as you can get) - but how long it'll last into next week.... I got a lightup two man sledge thing from Costco for Xmas and I am DYING to use it. Even with a slipped disc! -
