  1. A mild cloudy start to the day. Wind picked up late morning some heavy rain very briefly around midday. Sunny spells on strong SE Wind through afternoon. Top Temp- 19.3c. Wind - 15mph ESE, Gusting 23mph. Total Rainfall- 1.4mm
  2. While some of you enjoy your lightning show. It's mainly cloudy here with a few clear spells, brisk muggy wind though! Windows open on 3rd October at night, unseasonal!
  3. It will even out, wait for the bitter NE flow with Eurasia Snowcover and Warm SSTS playing a part :-)
  4. Great pictures and links in this thread a subject of Meteorology I am keen to understand and learn from just like stratosphere. Yet more gains today an increasing theme. Like Steve m says will likely lead to a stronger Siberian high.
  5. It's unusual to get snow in October what usually happens we start to see more of a wintery mix in showers especially over higher ground in Scotland later in the month. Usually we look into October at the snow and cold starts to sporadically move southwards into Russia and Europe. All part of the run up to winter! That said October 2008 brought surprises quite far south!
  6. The heating hasn't been on since a cold morning back at start of September here! Rather balmy again with windows wide open.
  7. Another Beast? Wouldn't describe last years end of winter fling as that was rather poor cloudy and a few flurries. It was when fronts pushed in from west that it delivered for some especially NW.I also agree about the jet heading North with us having a rather decent summer!
  8. Interesting documentary on BBC iplayer about Winter:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p01db15t/The_Great_British_Year_Winter/ ''Documentary showing Britain's changing look over the course of a year. Britain is in the grip of winter. Time-lapses show a magical country shrouded in frost and mist''.
  9. Coast Et all? It seems thunder and lighting over your way in Eastbourne area, friend on twitter has posted!
  10. May not be snowy or far from cold near here, but would help with the increasing Eurasian snowcover!
  11. One thing for sure is a consistency in the models of a high to influence our weather through the weekend and into next weekend, some atlantic fronts sweeping past the NW to begin with, but then soon joining the settled party. Warm temperatures for the time of year and exceptionally to see the mild uppers for a substantial amount of time over our shores. Interesting that a big wallop of high pressure to our East is building and could see blocking persist as we go through October, but not necessarily us staying settled with trough being a fly in oitment to our NW as runs go on. I think the comments on it lasting to November, are premature but for now a settled, benign pattern of weather is to take over our weather for the next 7-10 days! Cloudy at times, but with a SE flow at times the cloud should hopefully break up and feeling warm!
  12. A poor show so far, even the rain was a whimper here in Oxford a large band of heavy rain to West of here around lunchtime and some heavy pulses albeit brief to the East, instead 20 minutes of rain, of which only about 5/10 minutes of heavier bursts, before some sunny spells and feeling very warm this afternoon, highs of 19.6c. Maybe a stormy night ahead?
  13. A no-show here even for the rain, it rained for 20 mins, mainly light with a few heavier bursts, but a afternoon of sunshine and low clouds from time to time. No storms
  14. Dry with thick cloud here. Tis foggy this morning in the shire, stormy later?
  15. Well he suspended his account as he was getting a lot of abuse from followers after they were being told inaccurate weather information. Anyway back on topic. I read another forecast similar to maddens on the internet yesterday, not quite the ice slagoes on the Thames forecast! We'll doing incredibly well, when you compare it to previous starts. Let's hope it keeps going,! Eurasion Snowcover can play a huge part in us getting cold and snow, just one part of the winter jigsaw!
  16. A taste of things to come! Il Neige ( actually that's French; d'oh!)
  17. Last few days I have noticed more leaves on the floor and turning into that brown/red crispy look about em!
  18. Rather big gain. If we can keep seeing similar gains, it certainly bodes well
  19. Cloudy wet start. Became brighter and sunny before heavy shower late afternoon. Now cloudy with breezy conditions. Rather mild though currently 17.4c. Wind 13mph SE
  20. It's a 14 year old lad he is on twitter who over hypes many things and exaggerates apparently. Recently blocked his own account as he got slot of abuse for telling people false information. His forecasts have been rather interesting, soon see if any truth?!
  21. Cloudy with patchy light rain, Temp 14.2c. Wind 12mph ESE. Overnight Rain- 2.5mm
  22. Rather damp start here, Heavy Rain overnight, but cloudy with patchy light rain at moment. On the mild side here in Oxford again this morning; 14.2c.
  23. Just waiting for the first daily express headline reading coldest winter in *insert large number of years here* to be had thanks to Mr madden.
