  1. Currently lashing it down. The system sliding SEWards over our region currently. Rainfall since 10am is at 4.2mm. Temperature 12.5c. Wind 12mph SSW.
  2. Haha, we were on sight at 5;30am and was 4.6c. Chilly! I had 4 layers on, but by 9am the mist burned off, and was plesantly warmer!
  3. Hey Coast, was there Friday evening and left sunday afternoon. Weather throughout wasn't great for balloons, but there were small windows where we could tether, glow & hop across the airfield. Have posted a few photos on the other thread, Attached a few here too Glad you enjoyed the Air Show, i thought it was well attended due to weather and plenty of other things happening!
  4. We managed to tether on the Saturday evening around 6:30pm when the wind started to drop and had a nightglow on Saturday evening. Sunday morning was flyable although mist meant balloons didnt leave the airfield, though some tethered and hopped in the fog and mist!
  5. UK Weather Forecasts who are an independent forecasting group, have issued a winter forecast. I have to say i find them far from the mark on many occasions, time will tell! http://goo.gl/tV1ZCl
  6. Sunny, light shower, followed by more sunshine before heavier shower, only thing stayed constant is the wind speed, cool NW flow. Yuck!
  7. Thanks for the updates John! I'm off to Maidstone tomorrow staying at the event organiser( my mate) for the Balloon side of the Southern Airshow 2013 at Headcorn Aerodrome. We are hoping to go ballooning tomorrow afternoon before the rain and again on Sat late afternoon, Sunday morning looks the best before the rain and wind sweeps in! Might see some of you there?
  8. Pleasant day really, the afternoon saw skies brighten and warm sunshine, top temperature of 19.7c. Winds now 6mph W, Rain closing in!
  9. First sign of quite cooler and unsettled weather and one media source had to go and report snow.. Yes a chance of wintry over the high ground next week, though briefly andnothing substantial. Scaremongering, i thought the daily express would be first one to do it this winter, plenty of time yet!!
  10. Had a cycle earlier around Shotover Country Park, a telling sign Autumn is here. The leaves have begun to change and the fields have that decomposing smell, the crops look good though. Its been a good summer. Autumn gale force winds and deep lows on the way! Atlantic coming back to live?
  11. Yes it was.. We had a forecast the night before saying it would brush past us, we would perhaps get some light snow. But last minute gave us a big surprise watching the radar was fun at 9am.! Does anyone know a site which has archived radar images from certain events, if thats even avaliable?
  12. Fantastic that everyone sharing there favourite webcams etc.. Really good, nice to see the Snowline has decreased in LongYearBen. The Panoramic webcam is incredible!
  13. After a bright start to the day it soon clouded over. Rain from 2pm stopped not that long ago. Total Rainfall= 4.3mm; Top Temperature 15.8c.
  14. Probaby my second best snow event! Had the weather front moving up from the South, It stalled over our area and pivoting, it gave us a good 6hrs of moderate snow, with a good hour 1/2 of intense and heavy snow.
  15. Weather ;-) Indeed the north sea does look lively, thankfully drier this way after the last few days patchy drizzle and heavy showers, yuck!
  16. This chart gave us 10cm snow overnight as temperatures dropped away. Unseasonable snowfall for April and the latest i have seen snow in the season in my life. The snow had all melted by 4pm the same day as temperatures got upto 11c in the clear skies behind the front. We had about 5 days off from January 6th in 2010, mainly due to 30cm on the ground, but this was after having the 2 week xmas break!
  17. Some big looking Anvil clouds to the north, big Cumulnimbus clouds.. Back to rain it seems, it rained all morning we had 10.4mm. A wet few days... Oh and its cold only 12c.
  18. Weds January 6th 2010 at Midnight... A trough coming down from the north stalled and gave us 16 hours of snow, most of which was heavy we had 28cm
  19. Yes but when we see a deep depression (low pressure) over our shores in Autumn time for example, it won't be known as a hurricane. However we sometimes get the words like, hurricane force winds? but not officially a hurricane? I'm only going on what i have heard from senior posters on here and like you said would rather take there word for it than wiki! Usually described as a Ex tropical storm when they get here or just remnants causing a low pressure to move through.
  20. What did the update show from ISES in correlation to sunspot count?
  21. Not just yet. Definitely cooler days and cold nights are turning in, but the sun warms my bedroom up as it heads around into the afternoon. Prob another few weeks, unless we see it very chilly in the mornings!
