  1. I think I would give up on the weather entirely to be honest if nothing was to come from the temperatures being shown on the models when it cleared away from a breakdown because there would be no excuse for storms to not form when cooler air goes over 30C+ or 40C+ temperatures.
  2. Although the temperatures wouldn't be pleasent, it would probably be very good in the fact that it would bring widespread thundery weather to a lot of places that have had a rubbish year so far.
  3. I have heard a total of about 7 distant rumbles here for the last few hours to my south from a line of heavy showers moving from west to east. I am happy about the decision I made earlier going up the local hill as I got a good view of them developing in the distance a good while before they produced any thunder. I also think had I not gone for a walk up the hill I would have missed it as my parents said they didn't hear anything apart from maybe one rumble.
  4. haven't had anything nearby today but i'm certain i heard the odd distant rumble of thunder through the day but it was difficult to tell with the odd wind gust of around 30mph blowing around.
  5. Looks like we are actually under a 30% risk area today so I think a higher chance of getting something compared to recent attempts. I could already see a number of distant cumulonimbus clouds with some anvils around when I wen't out about half an hour ago.
  6. I'm not getting my hopes up anymore as this has happened twice already this year with good widespread thundery charts showing for a week or few day's in the future only for the actual event when it comes to end up being a total bust.
  7. It did look like it was going to be widespread no more then a day or two ago though with all of those high cape charts being posted.
  8. I hope this isn't the first sign of another bust coming because otherwise I am really starting to hate 2022 as its just bringing disappointment after disappointment. I'm hoping some elevated stuff will come in overnight now as things at the moment have become a bit messy compared to how convective it looked earlier when I was out walking around the local hills.
  9. I'm hoping the thundery potential for the end of next week will be more widespread this time for other places to get more thunder otherwise I would advise people to try your best to find something else or another hobby that gives you the same level of excitement. I say this because for me at least it's been a horrible few day's or even year for me with my mental health constantly seeing these thundery breakdowns going to waste only staying to the south or southeast and us never getting anything other then rain and feeling like we have gone back to autumn within a day with temps up to 28C one day down to 10C the next. Like I say its just a roller coaster of emotions with possible thundery weather events for me as they cause building excitement every time thinking this is the event that we will get something only for it to not effect our area and that causes a horrible downer and sudden change in mood that is not pleasant.
  10. This is why more people need to have lightning conductors on there houses as this is one of the only things that worry me and ruin the experience with thunderstorms. Every time the roof seems to set alight when lightning strikes a house if there is no protection.
  11. Problem is its partly why i am annoyed that we moved house a few years ago from the southwest to Wales as I knew we weren't going to get as many storms because we were going to be further north and west. At the time I was hopeful that we may get more windy weather to make up for the lack of thunderstorms but turns out even that was a let down as since the last few years we have been living here i haven't noticed any real difference in windspeeds from where we came from when an atlantic storm comes in during the winter months. So not only am i getting less thunderstorm potential during the Summer, the atlantic storms in the winter don't really seem to produce anything more then anywhere else gets, if not less as we are surrounded by hills now.
  12. Still a poor year for pretty much everywhere else apart from the south or southeast though. A thundery spell needs to cover more then just the southeast to be at least decent in my book.
  13. Yet the latest Met Office video forecast didn't mention even one word of thunder tomorrow, just outbreaks of rain which at times could be heavy.
  14. Oh wow you don't say! Nothing to see here then, move along nothing to see.
  15. I think 2018 was unusual out of the period of years we are in now as most hot spells tend to be humid and hot as opposed to how it used to be a lot more in the past with longer lasting settled but dry type heat weather. The very warm to hot long spell we had that year was an unusual dry heat type setup which we hardly ever get these day's. Personally though I am happy about this because although the more hot and humid weather is more unpleasant for personal comfort, It's still worth going through this discomfort to get the more thundery type weather that comes with the humid kind of heat. I prefer the hazy thundery look to the sky and clouds that come with humid heat as well.
  16. Exactly! Personally I think its more hellish to have below average temps and wet and unseasonably windy weather at this time of year along with no interesting thundery type weather. For instance I actually like unsettled and cool windy weather but at the right time of year (autumn for example). Plus windy weather causes less issues at the right time of year then if they occur during the summer as there are no leafs on the trees causing more drag and damage potential.
  17. Another bust is looking quite likely now unless things brighten up soon and this cloud goes.
  18. Same for my location as well. Big let down last night as although there were a few distant flashes to our east after dark and a few rumbles it all stopped around midnight and the expected storms that were suppose to happen overnight just turned out to be rain and gusty winds. And like you say I can't see these showers and thunderstorms happening later that the Met Office have predicted if the sky doesn't clear up.
  19. Hopefully it spreads over a wider area as we get closer to Saturday so that more areas can get some thunder for once.
  20. Hopefully the thundery potential if it even comes off will cover more areas this time around as well, not just the South and East.
  21. And for us here in Wales! There hasn't been anything since early January here when I got woken up between around 4:30AM in the morning by some rumbles, to see that there was a shower with the odd flash of lightning in the distance to the north. The last week or so has been very frustrating with nearly a week of potential but everything stayed to the south or east and anything that was imported had died out by the time it got here and just produced rain showers.
