  1. Back to the grey, dull and overcast again today which is a shame after the much improved yesterday. Didn't get as cold as I was expecting last night with a low of only 6.6C. Winds are lighter though then they were yesterday.
  2. Hoping to get a proper storm next year rather then just a few rumbles.
  3. Which model is this low suppose to be showing? Just looked at the GFS, ECM and I can't see any majour low apart from a few to the far northwest of Scotland. If you are talking about the low to the southwest at around 42hrs then I highly doubt it will cause roof tiles to come off. Isobars don't look that tight!
  4. Better start so far this morning. The cloud and dull conditions we had yesterday have gone and now it is mostly clear with just some Cirrus around. Light to moderate Easterly winds continue. Oh and colder now with the temp currently at 5C.
  5. Much colder today with temps stuck around 8C to 9C allday and overcast. Light winds yet again.
  6. Personally I have never known November to be as quiet as it has been this year, ever in my whole life! We should be getting strong winds and heavy rain now but instead we are only having grey cloudy skies and light winds. Very strange! Not suprising to see the models ease down the strength of the depressions for the end of the week. Should be some less cloud around though in the next few days so that is one positive.
  7. What exactly is exspensive for you? £50? £100? over £100? I have a Watson W-8681 Weather Station which cost around £100 and it does fine for the price.
  8. I am not talking in terms of lack of cold obviously! There has been plenty of that these past few years. What I mean is lack of gales or thunderstorms.
  9. Over the last few years I have noticed a distinct decline of any interesting weather in the South of the country. It seemed to begin back in 2007 and since then things seemed to have been getting worse and worse. First I noticed that thunderstorms had reduced during the summer of 2007, but it still wasn't bad because we would always have the active atlantic pattern during the Autumn months. We had a continued lack of thunderstorms from then on, but after 2009 we seemed to have now also been getting a lack of strong winds or winds which at least get above 50mph. It seems like most Atlantic, proper deep depressions always run too far Northwest of us to effect the South anymore. So right now all we get these days is a few distant rumbles of thunder, and winds at there highest in gusts not getting much above 40mph! Has anyone else noticed this decline in the South of the country or is it just me?
  10. Very bright and sunny but there is some cloud around. Breezy and Temperature of 14.6C.
  11. I have never seen the models change this much in such a small space of time!
  12. Have been having it on recently but only occasionally. May put it on this evening as although it isn't particullarly cold, the house can drop in temperature due to no more high daytime temperatures.
  13. If Jane Louise had this storm next year, she would be out of the No Storms Club in no time!
  14. Overcast, same as yesterday although looks like we have had some rain overnight. Current temp of 10.6C and winds are very slightly stronger.
  15. From what I can see the potential is out in FI so people should remain a tad cautious as it could well change in the next few days. Better looking charts from the ECM nontheless. Seems to have changed the mood in here a bit.
  16. They will be force 12 going by predictions however I am not shure whether they mean in terms of gusts or mean speeds.Edit: Just had a more detailed look and it seems that the 70mph+ winds will only be gusts and most likely only effect coastal areas. Still predictions of 60mph gusts or more inland however so still some likely damage.
  17. This storm will certainly cause some damage! Are those predicted wind speeds the mean speed or just gusts?
  18. Dull, virtually no winds and temperatures stuck at 9C. Only reached 10C today as a max high!
  19. Monday next week will certainly feel different to the end of this week going by the GFS.
  20. Could go either way really.Of course GFS can sometimes undercook temps so it is possible.
  21. It rarely hit those figures though.Thats what I meant. And most of the time when the temperature did get above the 20s it was only around for a few days. Obviously the temperature was higher in more Southern areas.
  22. Noticed also that they said that at the moment they don't see a repeat of the last couple of Winters this time around. But they also said that it might well change! I could just picture the GFS and ECM charts going back and fourth on evolutions when that part of the program was showing.
  23. It's a shame though that the snow won't be able to make it's way further South and effect most of the United Kingdom.Must admit that it is quite odd seeing possible temperatures of 18C for end of this week when you think that that figure was rarely hit in Northern parts of the UK during the Summer.
  24. Grey, overcast and boring temps that stick around for days on end at around 11C. Not much variation in temps both day and night, no interesting convective weather and winds which are either very light or no winds at all. This would be my worst type of weather!
