The temperature is still refusing to drop much round these parts, yawn.
-
The temperature is still stalling round about 1.5 here according to a few nearby weather stations, arghhhh, no wonder Backtrack unplugged his earlier.
-
Well GFS finally seems to be starting to 'get it' as far the SSW, a breakdown for next does week look likely now but whether it will to a prolonged period of Zonality is another question.
And now of course in typical fashion it reverts back to default in FI, it wasn't looking terrible before that though.

As I said earlier if Friday was to be our lot winter then I'd be satisfied enough, this quick thaw is disappointing but what can you do, this is the UK we live in afterall.
-
I'm not all not bothered about the quick thaw, I've seen it snow, I've built my snowman so if this were to be it for the winter then I'd be content enough, much more so than last year anyway.
-
This is exactly the reason why I'm now trying to build my snowman whilst I still can lolsnow is melting fast
-
Indeed, irrespective of any potential breakdown what is being hinted at by the GFS in FI does seem to tie in with GP'S thoughts, it's one to watch out for that is for sure.No real breakthrough on the 6z. Subtle Greenland heights with sliders and big snowfalls.
Marvellous stuff.

not checked charts for days. when is the breakdown trending for?
At the minute for next weekend, this is being indicated by all the models but despite this it still wouldn't surprise me if it was put back by at least a day or so.
-
I'd be very curious to know how well Congleton has done out of this, does anyone have any idea?
-
Backford is between Chester and Ellesmere port, precipitation appears to be heading due north
Will it reach Runcorn?
-
Seems to be stopping now, are you sure this isn't it HC?
-
To quote Ian WTF? I really do not know what to say.
-
Sometimes I've wondered to myself what is the point of model watching when all leads to is disappoint but it's times like these that makes it all the more worth it.

graphics for met office are dreadful, gone from light snow to overcast but everything else says otherwise..
This topic was already covered in the last thread, apparently the MetO are having problems with the symbols for 'some areas', either way we'll know for sure by this time tomorrow.
-
Ok I'm off to bed to now, if I see Backtrack wrist slashing later and no snow then I'll know for sure that it is game over for me, hopefully not though.
-
can't post a link but its on twitter, look on the meto page then find a reply to @chrisward. He's m45 postcode meto know the symbols are wrong!
Just read that tweet, I really hope that it isn't merely providing me with false hope lol

I wonder where in the world BT is, I'm surprised he hasn't already logged on given the conditions outside atm.
-
In midst of the pessimism it's snowing again here, looks like I'll have my covering soon if this keeps going .
-
Can anyone explain why they think it's definitely game over? I still haven't got an answer on this.
-
What you all on about? The gfs 12z Is a stonker for the nw!
I'm wondering the same, quite a few people seem to be rather dismissive of the GFS 12z output for whatever reason.
-
There seems to be a growing feeling of pessimism again in here, so would wise not to expect much if anything at all then?
-
It's snowing here too now
-
I really fear for my laptop at the minute, if the GFS 12z shows yet another downgrade then I'm not sure how much they'll be left of it.
-
So is there a chance that even those of us further west and south of the region won't see much now?, please say it ain't so
