  1. Thank you so much for such an informative post. I may not get all of it but I still learn from it and your research and knowledge is most gratefully received!!! What a little gem you are to have in our forum!!!
  2. I have to say, I've been an avid reader on here since 2011 and despite having learnt a lot, I still class myself as a novice too. I still may not be an expert chart de-coder BUT I have been through enough cold spells/beasts/potential beasts/fails etc and have read enough of the corresponding posts to understand how these things work and play out..... it shocks me that although I class most members in here more knowledgeable than me, I see the same comments rolled out time after time. We are undoubtedly in a very obvious "flip flop" situation at the moment due to the models not being able to grasp the unique situation we're in. Although I can't guarantee they will all end up showing a Snoasis, we just need to keep looking at the broader theme and watching all the other indicators and not just the run from run ☺
  3. Oooo will we see some last minute flurries??!! It's so frustrating to have this biting cold easterly with no snow! However things are still sounding good for an SSW so it's not like we haven't got more potential to look forward to!!xx
  4. Models looking tasty!! I wonder if we'll all be in here next week, chasing our first snow?!x
  5. Meto update still suggesting a possible return to milder after a cold (wintry showers) snap next week. Do we think this ties in with the potential for the Atlantic to fire up between said cold spell and the trop result of the SSW as has been suggested on here? Or could it be that they're just still playing cautious whilst waiting for models to firm up?
  6. This is definitely not a "normal winter" (comparing to recent years).... we've already seen some amazing charts over and over again and it's only 2 December!! Ok so we haven't had our freezing and snowy dreams actually happen YET but chances have been there with background signals just waiting for those finer details to organise themselves before we then see more bites at the cherry! Certainly a lot more on offer than our more recent winters where there was literally not even a glimmer of hope to get excited about! Let's hope it all keeps chugging along and we see at least one even result from it all!!!
  7. Please don't stay at day 10-15!!! Please don't stay at day 10-15!!! Please don't stay at day 10-15!!! Please don't stay at day 10-15!!!
  8. Nice to see a little hope back in the charts..... I feel that in this set up we'remore likely to see sudden changes occur as we're certainly not in the same place as a lot of recent year's winters have started!
  9. @TomSE12 I just wanted to thank you for your very informative posts of both current conditions and memories of winters past! They're a great read!!x
  10. Yes my friend in Boston has already posted pics on facebook of lovely snow!!! I clicked on the angry face and carried on scrolling!!! (I didn't really, haha!!) So jealous though!! I know people talk of snow in winter here but to me, nothing is more special than snow in the build up to Christmas and/or a White Christmas. I've had snow since Dec 2010 but that year is locked in my mind for how Christmassy it felt!!!
  11. I expected it to be quieter in here but I'm hoping from seeing the continued "mild blip but returning to cold" that the Meto extended says and the fact that some models are also supporting this means we'll be back to some juicy charts after the initial milder weather. A potential SSW and the larger picture of PV/NH profiles mean there is a lot of potential still to come!
  12. Urgh.... just keep thinking how this could've all been falling as snow had we been one month on with this set up!!! Let's hope we get more bites at this teaser of a cherry!!!x
  13. Soooo will this place be buzzing in here come Tuesday night or will be all be listening to the rain outside and imagining what it could have been had it been 1mth later?! Lol, who knows but the Winter season has well and truly started with a bang this year!!
  14. We still have a Model Discussion thread so couldn't that be kept for people who only want to see MOD and rename this thread as just "The Hunt For Cold"?! I personally like the funny comments/pics etc, we get excited and want to express it with some lighthearted discussion etc ... it would also save the Mods a lot of time having to delete comments?! Just an idea
  15. This ties in with the Meto update too, possibly a bit of milder weather after initial cold next week but shortlived and then probably back to cold again. And by then we'll be closer to December and have more cold pool to tap into too!!
  16. It was supposed to be very warm 17c today but it wasn't. A whole week for temps to adjust yet.
  17. Sadly didn't deliver much for my area but I know that wasn't the case UK wide. Were they seen as far out as this is? Thanks - still learning!x
  18. Wow!! Not sure I've seen charts like these since my personal hunt for cold started in 2011 after the fab winter of 2010!!!! In fact I have seen charts like these but only when people posted old ones as an example of what is ideal and what we need to see!!! Just had a look in the other MOD thread- is everyone just partying in here now?! Lol!!
  19. Rain, hail and thunder today!! Potentially snow in a couple of weeks?!
  20. I'm like you too, been reading since 2011, learnt a lot but never enough to post much but I've picked up on what people have said we need and what we don't want to see and like you, this is all sounding much better than we've seen in recent years!!
  21. Mad charts!!!! Haven't ever seen it so busy in here in October before, lol!! After a wonderful summer of sun and heat, it's great to be back in here following the search for cold and snow! Thank you to all the knowledgeable people who post so clearly and help people like me understand so much more year on year - and get excited with It!!! Tee hee!!x
  22. I hope you're right, we're currently en route from sunny/warm home in the southeast to holiday near Blackpool! To be honest, I was happy with just dry weather but a bit warmer would be nice too!x
  23. I remember it well! I was heavily pregnant waddling in the snow and exactly a month later my waters broke when it was baking hot day and stayed that way!x
  24. I've got one of those snow killers too!!! and an 11 and 9yr old - just no respect!x
