I Home Educate my kids so every day is a snow day if there's a chance of it, lol!!
Meto says sleet all day for Leatherhead but heavy snow all day for Epsom Downs - I live between the two so guess which way we'll be headed, lol! Or perhas Boxhill will be even better?!xx
Aww Murr Jnr deserves to see the very stuff his Daddy works so hard to inform us all about every winter!!! I have a 3yr old too and he's seen it twice but both times meant a drive to Boxhill! He got excited to see it today but didn't settle, fingers crossed for next time!x
Snow falling the last 1.5hrs here in Ashtead (between Leatherhead and Epsom) but not settling. We've had lots in blustery winds and then barely anything, then big flakes then just above sleet, lol!
Never expected or forecast ANY so just to see it falling as I look out of my Christmassy lounge is lovely!x
Nowt here in Northeast Surrey Looks like we had some early hours cos evidence of slush on bins and then according to the radar about 9am we were sat JUST below the snow line!!
Meto site said turning to snow again from 1pm on/off until 10pm but now the site has crashed so I don't know the latest on that?! Anyone else have an idea of chances?x
Yes one year we were up there (think Jan this year actually?) sledging and looking down on the green fields from the viewpoint, lol! Yes wouldn't risk Leith Hill, much harder to get to!x
I grew up on Boxhill in the 80's - can you see why I might be slightly snow obsessed??!! Lol! In the smatterings we've had in the last few years, Boxhill is where we head!!!x
Can someone explain to me how, after a freezing cold night, at 2am tomorrow, at 2c, I get rain and yet on Monday midday, also at 2c it says sleet?!! (As per Meto site) Oh and after 4c all day tomorrow, by 5pm and at 2c I have snow??!! Lol!!xx
Well I can confirm that Guildford felt very festive today - aka FREEZING!!! But also festive due to the Christmas lights and a band and choir playing carols!!! Along with the cold weather it felt very atmospheric!
Still gutted we won't be seeing snow tomorrow and that the Meto update says mild leading up to Christmas but fingers crossed for January!xx
The Meto extended also doesn't sound as cold/blocked as it said a couple of days ago either?! The one thing that kept me going through this "arctic farce" was thinking we may have further chances down the line but not looking as probable now?!x
Lol! My husband is a self employed driving instructor who can't work when the roads are snowy/icey so I shouldn't be wishing for it at all, lol! But I grew up on Boxhill in the snowy 80's so it was engrained into my fibre, lol!xx
Good luck with silly Ofsted and let's hope he gives Outstanding for snow potential, lol!
I too prefer the run up to Christmas and some snow would be the holly on the pud!!!x
Tbf to the MOD thread, there is definitely stuff to be getting excited about; it is going very cold and there will be snow this weekend, something the UK hasn't seen for a long time!! Especially in December!! However it's just that us poor southeaster's are being missed out yet again while the North get their snowmen, ggrrr!!! This is when I try to repeat my mantra "we get hotter summers.... we get hotter summers.... we get more sunshine..... we are lucky to live in the Southeast....." (note that I only TRY to repeat this mantra, lol!!!)
However I still feel confident that we could see further chances! It' only the start of winter and it's a fantastic cold northern hemisphere start to winter! If this was February and our last chance of a marginal event before it flipped back to mild/early spring then I may be replicating one of my three year old's tantrums but we've still lots to play for in a synoptically good situation!!!!xx
