  1. My hubby's family live in Michigan and I've seen FB statuses/pictures for weeks of snow snow snow!!! So jealous!!!xx
  2. Hubby's cousin who lives in Detroit area has just posted on Facebook that schools are closed tomorrow, estimating 9inches of snow.....sigh.... xx
  3. Haven't been on all day but got quite excited when I couldn't access site - thought it had crashed cos we'd had some "boom" run or something, lol!! Wishful thinking! Winds picking up out there....I'm 10min from Leatherhead flooding and had my own flood in garden so could really do without any further rain this way!!!xx
  4. Happy Christmas everyone! Bright sunshine while kids unwrapping presents but now turned ominously dark.... I'm 10mins from Leatherhead which has seriously bad flooding so we cud really do without more rain!xx
  5. Morning all, our flood didn't make it inside thank god! Can only assume rain must've got lighter, giving time for some of it to drain away quicker. Towels on doorstep were wet so it was v v close - think we've been v lucky!! Hope you're all well xx
  6. I'm already turning my other 2 kidlets into mini weathergeeks, lol!! Yes maybe its the nerves from me...we're surrounded by trees and flooding in garden nearly up to front door earlier so god knows what we'll wake to in the morning.... xxx
  7. I am currently pregnant and baby has been VERY active tonight!! Do u think it also doesn't like the storm or maybe a reaction to low pressure atmosphere??!! Weird!!xx
  8. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25499753 And meanwhile my hubby's family in Detroit have this!! She's been posting pretty ice pics on fb but has no power....is it wrong I'd still prefer this over what we're currently experiencing???!!! :/ xx
  9. Kicking up again here in Epsom....garden that slopes towards front door is already flooded, 3" outside front door God knows what it will be by morning, up to doorstep already... This seems a lot worse than Jude but with a lot less warning/hype? A lot of people took the Mick out of Jude so then the Met/Press are less likely to make such a big fuss for the next storm - when its really needed!!xxx
  10. Worst affected counties tonight will be 1 Kent 2 Sussex 3 Hampshire 4 Middlesex 5 London <5> EssexIn the above counties, expect significant disruption due to uprooting trees, damage to buildings, power loss and the affect that this will have on local transport.
  11. We have a few wheelie bin casualties here in Epsom! Absolutely foul out there and we woke to a flooded garden (slopes towards front door!) last Christmas Day so could really do without it again this year!! Wishing it was blizzard snow out there instead!xx
  12. Thought that's what I just heard Surrey! Thanx for the confirmation! Are we expecting any hail or just more rotten heavy rain?!x
  13. Sounds worse out there than St Jude! Awful! Don't like it like this when hubby is out :/ Wishing I could look out the window and see snow in that wind tho - what a blizzard that wud be!!!xx
  14. Hi folks! Well the "dew" on the car this morning turned out to be ice and fairly chilly all day, if not bitterly cold but not what I'd call mild?! And foggy out there now! I hope we get a sudden unexpected blast of cold and snow - not just cos I want it but cos it might stop certain people in MAD condemning us to "definitely mild zonal" ever again when FANTASY ISLAND shows this - clue is in the nickname folks When never ending mild zonal shows again, i want people to refer to "ah yes but look what happened in Dec 2013!" Lol!! Pma....!!!!xx
  15. Hi guys, I never post on here as I'm still a huge novice but this is the 3rd winter that I've followed the forum. I just wanted to know why these mild outlooks (especially charts for 16 Dec, supposedly FI?!) are always taken as gospel and everyone is always pretty confident they'll definitely happen? Is it because statistically we're more likely to receive that type of weather or maybe it's because it takes a longer period for the PV to split? I'm just always confused as to why milder runs are given more belief than if the runs were currently showing cold? Many thanks
  16. I too suffer with SAD Tilly, it can be quite debilitating.... i got a lamp that slowly brightens in the morning to help with waking up instead of a harsh alarm in the dark! If it wasn't for the excitement of Christmas and potential snow events I cud quite happily hybernate!! High dose Vit D supps a must too!Sorry to hear about Pepper BJ, so sad xxx
  17. Well we got a dry fireworks party for my sons 7th bday!! Watched the rockets burst in the sky and then all zoom sideways!!! Very blustery but not too cold which we could live with for the fact it was dry!! Kids loved it! Now looking forward to Xmas countdown and spying out any snowy forecasts!!! H x
  18. So does this mean that rain/wind is holding off for a bit so my son gets his birthday fireworks party??? Pleeeaaasseee!!!H x
  19. Well both those weather warnings are for Friday and Sun/Mon so I'm gonna put my rose-tinted glasses on and hope that Saturday night will dodge the worst weather and the firework party for my sons 7th bday will still go ahead!!! H x
  20. Few trees down in Epsom/Sutton area but other that nothing too horrendous ....just wondering if a storm will ever seem as bad again after the '87 storm tho??!! H x
  21. Sorry what I meant was that altho the major bit of the storm isn't until Monday, cud it be getting pretty hairy by Sunday night so best not to travel??xxx
  22. Hi all, a quick question....we live in Surrey but had planned to go see sister in law in Kent tomorrow, meaning we'd be driving home around 8/9pm. Would u a) call it off, b ) go but come home at Xpm time or c) keep plans cos severe storm not until Monday? Just a little quiz for u, lol!! Thanx, H x
  23. Morning all, cloudy here.... The MOD thread seems to be getting quite excited about a good spell of weather coming up to end Aug/into Sept ...really hoping it does actually come off and then we'd have had a nigh on perfect summer that was long overdue!!! Lets hope it sets a trend for the next few summers now - with cold winters in between of course!! H x
  24. So this is all going to be breaking down just in time for the kids school summer hols then??!!! Aaaggghhh!!! Keeping everything crossed that the high decides to stick and not move - just as it likes to in our countdown to snow in winter, lol!!
  25. Lol MK!! Well I hope the weather is good for your bday too!! So no good LRF's from anyone reputable then?! Oh well, will just have to hope that it can't possibly be as bad as last yr then!! H x
